That is exactly my point. What they say and what they do are extremely different.

Oh, my apologies. I was getting my reference from the teachings of the Koran and Mohamed. I had no idea there was a website. Seeing as no Islamic group would ever post misinformation about their religion, I will now see it the other way. My mistake. :yelwink2:

"rectification of the world lies in two important elements: a system that governs society as a whole, and components of the same system that result in individual peace"

Flowery words, that back my point exactly. They are basically saying that Islam is the only authority on how society should be governed, and man's hapiness is dependent on following the will of the governing Islamic system. Sounds kind of like Iran and Syria, doesn't it? Ahhh, Paradise!

Sorry man, but I value free thought, free government, and free expression. The website states that Islam doesn't.

You keep missing the point. I don't defend Islam or the Koran and there are inflammatory passages galore.

The point is that Islam itself does not advocate murder of innocent people and wanton terror campaigns against the public. It is the raghead terrorists themselves that are using a religion to justify their political and ideological motives.

Islam is just a religion, it is not the enemy. As martin would say, it is just a magic fairy tale. The enemy are the radical islamists who are using the passion of the islamic faith as cover for their bloody ideological agenda.

There are a billion Muslims. We can't kill them all, even if they were all hostile. It is hopeless to try to defeat the faith. What is achieveable is to drive a wedge between the peaceful true believers and the violent radicals. This is what we need to do and I see some progress in that area. But it is vital to recognize the true enemy in such an endeavor and not go off tilting at windmills.

you raise an interesting point, but i see it slightly differently. the question is, does the religion make people murderers, or do the murderous people use religion to justify their killin'.

i would argue that without religion, people would be much more peaceful. and the reason is that religion gives people a reason to have enemies that stick over multiple generations.

for instance, if your grandfather killed my grandfather, i wouldnt be mad at you at all, it has nothing to do with you. however, if your grandfather was christian, and mine was jewish, and you and i were the same religions as our grandparents, then we would still feel like we needed retribution for the past, because we still adhere to the beliefs of the tribe and think as a group. this sort of cross-generational groupthink is dangerous, and religion causes it. with religion, wars go on forever. the infidels are always infidels that need to be killed, the problem is never solved. the great grandkids of the current terrorists are also terrorists.

of course if today's terrorists had been born in america to atheist parents, they wouldnt be terrorists. religion makes them kill.

the conclusion is that religion is the enemy. its the killing meme.

(you might argue that religion is also good because it makes christians friendly, but i would argue that it is just plain rational to be friendly)
