the favorite song thread got me thinking...

i've forgotten a lot of stuff in my life but one thing i'll always remember is my first .45 single. i was about 5 when mtv started (in1981) and it was soon after i'd start getting singles that matched their playlist. my dad and i would go to the record store and my dad would always get me a single or two whenever we went.
i can't remember what my second record was or could i tell you the last cd i bought but i remember my first .45
so what did this 6 year old want for his first single....

Listened to older sibling's stuff, but the first I ever bought with my own money is Deep Purple: Made in Japan

"this song's this thing called Smoke....on...the...Water" then one of the best riffs ever

I was always a hard rock guy, and although I liked "1999", I thought Prince was a pop guy. Not sure how, but saw the movie Purple Rain. He fricking rocked with the music and guitar! I love the music, and I agree with you. The song Purple Rain is great and I can listen to it many times, still do.

Never much of a Prince fan but I have been to two of his shows! LOADED with women, I mean dripping from the ceiling just a sea of women. Yup-
