I say we keep A&M and Mizzou and toss Bama AND Aubarn over to the East. THAT will keep all the "rivalries" in tact. Send us Kentucky. They are fun to play every year (except during basketball season of course).
I think they will make LSU vs A&M the Thanksgiving game and try to create a border war with Arkansas and Mizzou since they are relatively close. I mean who knows how this will all break. But there is NO way the move the Iron bowl from Thanksgiving. That would be a travesty... I love thanksgiving weekend. The big question is A&M going to keep their game with the Horns. If so that changes everything. Man like Willy Wonka said "The suspense is terrible... I hope it'll last"
That will never happen...... The power in the SEC greatly tilts east and would turn the east into murderers row.... Yes good for us but Bama, Aub, UGA, UF etc would never sign up for that.
Don't assume that just because aTm was added, and naturally assigned to the west, that our 14th program automatically shifts to the east reguardless of location. I think Auburn goes east as it's the practically in the eastern division's backyard (only 2 hours from Atlanta) and already a natural rival to UGA every year. Aub would then still be able to have their Iron Bowl matchup guaranteed by playing Bama as their dedicated non-division rival with also a potential rematch in the SECCG. The way I see it, everything is cyclical any ways. A decade ago, it was the east that was the stronger divsion, with UGA, Tenn and Florida. Right now, the west is best and aTm, IMO, has more chance at maintaining a stronger side than Auburn in most seasons. LSU, Bama and aTm will likely remain the "Big 3" in the division with Arkansas occassionally threatening to finish top 3. The real programs that have something to worry about would the Mississippi schools as I'd venture out to say that most seasons, Mizzou would field a better team than either of them. Vandy and Kentucky take the hardest pill to swallow as neither has ever been a threat in the east and would only get harder for them to be anything better than 5th no matter who joins the east.
My favorite Baylor Fan post from their board "SEC should tread very very lightly here, and they know it. It will be the lawsuit of the century if Mizzou leaves and that causes the Big 12 to fail..." Do you really think the money and power in the SEC is worried about Baylor ??? I am pretty sure the lawyers of the SEC have figured out how to go about this... Idiots...
Not even an issue IMO. There are lots of teams that play an annual rival with a tough OOC opponent. Florida/Florida St/Miami is the natural example. USC/ND So. Car/Clemson aTm playing Texas every year is no worse than us playing Oregon AND WVU in the SAME season and THEN our SEC schedule. In fact, aTm/Texas as an OOC game for the Aggies is EASIER than what we just went through.
The smallest kid with the mouthpiece. Love it! Baylor should worry more about being known for their women's basketball team than any of their men's sports before being all brash and talking smack.
Excellent point.... I bet the A&M fan base cannot wait for their first chance to chant "SEC SEC SEC" which may make me vomit in my mouth a bit, but will get over it. One thing I want though, is IF they keep us and Arkansas as the thanksgiving game which is fine. WE STOP PLAYING THEM IN THAT DUMP IN LITTLE ROCK !!!!!! I have been to their home campus many times, was there recently for the Troy State game. Great Stadium, great campus and its not a high school stadium in little rock...
Would it not be as good of a game if the Iron Bowl moved up in the schedule by a week or so? There are other big rivalries that don't happen at the end of the season (Red River Rivalry this weekend, for example).
