I don't like the idea of adding Mizzou... with the exception of maybe once every decade, their a perennial loser. I'd be more inclined to want a decent addition for the East such as Ga Tech or say NC State... I like the way the divisions are lined up now, no need for Bama and Auburn to move to the East.
1. It would preserve the present power arrangement -- LSU, Bama, and Auburn in the west . . . Florida, Tennessee, Georgia in the east 2. It would keep LSU playing more of its traditional rivals instead of THREE former SWC/Pac-8 teams. 3. It would keep three TIGERS from being in the same division.
That totally sucks. The East looks like the old SEC while LSU is stuck with a bunch of newbies in a lesser league. It puts all the contenders except LSU in the east which would become the dominant division.
:geaux: I guess in reality the SEC is their third choice. They really want to be in the Big 10, but the Big 10 don't want 'em. Then they don't really want to leave the Big 12 because of their history there, but it (Big 12) is going to shyt in a hand basket so they can see the handwriting on the wall. The SEC is their best choice for the future and they know it. They don't particularly like it, but they know it. :LSU231:
which would put us in Atlanta just about every year and then presents a possibility for an LSU vs. Alabama SEC championship game.
:geaux: I would really hope that it just ends up with The Barner's going to the east if Mizzou comes to the west. That would be the best scenario as far as balance between the divisions, IMO. But then you run into the Bama/Au, Tenn/Bama, etc., etc. :dis: Don't know how this is gonna end up. :LSU231:
Thank you. We are just stating the obvious here. That alignment clearly favors LSU. 1) Win the West 2) Beat Bama in Atlanta 3) Play for a BCS National Championship...consistently!
If there is no competition in the division, it won't work, and the SEC knows it. Balance is the key. The fans would also not be happy about Kentucky and Vanderbilt and the Mississippi schools every year with no big games with bama, Florida or Auburn.
:geaux: Our biggest games of the year would then become R-Kansas and the Faggies, which would suck. :dis: Simplest thing for the SEC would be to ship Mizzou to the east to preserve the balance of power and the majority of the current rivalries. With some further tweaking they could also possbibly save some of the cross-division rivalries as well. :LSU231:
