I knew that Georgia was definately going to be good after watching the Spring Game.

There was absolutely no good reason to expect Urban Meyer to win the SEC East, but that is exactly what the media did.

And Tennessee was right behind because they were on the Notre Dame schedule.

2006 will also be competitive for Georgia, but I'm leaning towards South Carolina winning the SEC East. Spurrier is going after some JUCO players, and with the addition of Chris Smelley and Mo Brown, he may just tear and rip Urban Meyer a new one.

Tennessee is going nowhere at the moment...

This will be the worst recruiting class for Fulmer in the past 10 years or so.

QB, Both WR's, Best DL, Best two LB's....not skill position players?

Not sure I follow this thought...

Well, I did say besides the QB... The WR's were good, but replacable. Plus Georgia had a fine OL & very talented group of RBs to ease the transition there. The DL was a big hit for the program, but a bit overrated in my book & not exactly essential to the program's success. If I remember correctly, Georgia had recruited a couple fine LBs behind those 2 guys, so it wasn't that great of a concern.

    Who?

Thurman and Davis were the starters since 2003.

Please answer a question that has been on my mind for quite a while now. Why do poeple put such faith in whatever Paul Finebaum says? Some people feel that if he ranks a team or coach high then it must be true. Do you think that he ever played a down of football? Do you think that he has ever coached any team, and do you think that he has ever played any sport?
Don't get me wrong, I read his columns also, and listen to his show, but why do we consider him such an authority, and why can he make us feel good or bad about our team and our coaches. Just wondered if anyone else felt the same way.

Whether they were starters or not has nothing to do with who Georgia recruited. Like I said, I just seem to remember a couple good lb's being recruited there. Maybe not. I will look it up later.

AU has had recruiting classes in the last 3 years in the Top 20 including a 5-Star LB from I think West Georgia who played with a cousin of mine named Trey Blackmon.

Their recruiting may not be as good 'star-wise' per the sites but I don't think it has been any worse.

UGA lost more talent overall on both sides than AU. Not sure how you could say Richt didn't lose much when it is so obvious 6 core players left.

I never said that Richt didn't lose much... But IMO, the players he lost were easier to replace than the ones that Tubberville lost. Richt lost players that teams lose most years. Every year you lose some good players, players that were big parts of the team etc. But how often does a team have to replace an entire backfield at once?

I didn't mean that what Richt did to overcome the losses wasn't impressive or that he didn't have much to overcome - just that what he had to overcome was exaggerated.
