I stand corrected. I didn't find him until he went to WERC.

Ok, I am a diehard LSU fan and Louisiana native who moved to Alabama in 2000. I just want to give an honest opinion of Finebaum from what I have heard the last 7 years. I am a big fan of sports talk radio, and Finebaum is the biggest name in talk radio in this area. Not only does he have the most popular sports talk radio show in the area, but he is also a popular columinst as well.
My main point is to give this one example, which nobody has mentioned. I believe it was in 2002 or early 2003, before LSU won their national championship, but Finebaum had a Louisiana sports writer (who I didn't know) on the phone as a guest on his talk show to discuss SEC football and the upcoming games. Finebaum was a typical host, while on the air, agreeing with most everything he said, but not TWO SECONDS after the LA sports writer hung up, Finebaum totally criticized this LA journalist, and get this: CALLED LSU A LOSER PROGRAM!!!!!! I'm not kidding!! Finebaum got many calls about it the next day, but his argument was LSU got so much talent, but since (at the time they had not competed for the national championship in fifty years, they were a loser program). And the funniest thing is, at the time the coach at LSU was no other than Nick Saban, who Finebaum now considers one ot the best coaches in the history of college football.

My point to all of this is Finebaum is a complete moron. He is criticizing Miles now, but it is nothing compared to how much he was criticizing Saban in his early years at LSU. Finebaum recently had a spot on the local news where he listed the best coaches in the SEC. His #2 coach was Nick Saban, only behind Steve Spurrier, who just happens to be a close friend to his.

Finebaum crossed the line with a comment yesterday that sounded like Howard Stern wrote it for him. I will be shocked if the FCC doesn't fine him for it. I will PM it, but I will not post it in a public forum. A guy could get banned for it

No old baldy is just laying off Bama right now. Give him a few weeks when things get slow - he really hates Alabama - down here in Florida I listen to WJOX streaming at work and he is on in the afternoon. He is really an orange vol fan at heart and hates everybody that doesn't sing rocky top.

How do you figure? Alabama had a top 10 class. UNC did not.

North Carolina beat you according to Scout.

    UNC - 15
    Alabama - 19

Funny how Rivals bumped up recruits stars when they committed to Bama after "new" video surfaces....

*shrug* I look at Rivals, it's what I'm used to. I do know that Georgia also had a pretty decent difference in the levels between the two recruiting sites.

Also, I know Rivals had the recruiting classes under Fran pretty low while at Alabama. I honestly do not think there is any kind of pro-Bama bias there.

If I really wanted to, I would probably just average the two classes. That would Alabama probably somewhere around 13-15. That's good enough to still win in the SEC, if you have good enough coaching.

Besides, would a pro-Bama website have them #7 in the SEC? And constantly have Tennessee pulling in top 5 classes in the country?

I do think it says something about the SEC that Rivals believes that 7 of the top 10 classes are in the conference.

I don't either, I think it is a pro-major team bias. Our two kickers were 2-stars until we picked them up and they became 3-stars. Bama picked up some players that were not ranked very high, so rivals re-evaluated them to see what Nick was going after . . . and they gained stars for it. It ain't just Bama where that happens, it's all the big name schools
