LSU wanted him and recruited him hard. They went so far as to give his brother a job. He wanted a better job and LSU wasn't willing while Ole Missy was. Has nothing to do with how hard LSU recuited him or which one is/will be the better QB. It was a package deal from the beginning and LSU wanted the QB and not the package. There have been players that Miles missed on because he wasn't interested. There have been players Miles missed on because he was simply out recruited. I don't put Patterson in either of these groups. I'm happy with Franks. I'm not happy with our QB development and use. To me that's the faaaaaar bigger issue than getting the #5 rated QB instead of the #1.
I look at years, not players. The closest we could ever say Miles has developed was Mett and he was a Juco transfer and came to LSU already as an established passer. Miles has been here 10 years now and has never succeeded in recruiting a QB and then developing him.
What said. Weve sucked at qb 8 out of the last ten years period. We dont really develop qbs, we just hope they can be athletic and kind of pass, and kind of make good game managing decisions.

That's like saying yes you won the game, but you were losing with one quarter left. It's not where you start, it's where you finish.
I still would have rather had Patterson. The zone read quarterback is absolutely destroying the game of football. Franks may turn out to be awesome, but Les Miles doesn't make diamonds out quarterback coal, and the ones that have been successful are the ones who can throw from the pocket. Now I know someone will spout off Wins Losses with Jordan Jefferson, and I get it, but we could have had TC McCartney running the O those 4 years and won just as many games.
Ole Miss Football: Elite 11 MVP Shea Patterson Announces Transfer To IMG Academy For Senior Season Dan Lyons Over the weekend, Ole Miss quarterback commit Shea Patterson won the MVP Award at the prestigious Elite 11 camp. Today, he announced another big move—he is transferring to athletic powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for his final high school season. Patterson made the announcement in a long note posted to Twitter. Patterson transfers to IMG from Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport. There’s no doubt that he’ll face top competition all year. That could bode well, as he will likely battle for the starting quarterback job at Ole Miss as soon as he reaches campus.
Uh, You do realize that we already have a QB that was at that camp and well, he aint elite at much unless you consider being terrible at QB as being elite.
