I agree the infatuation with duel threat QB's is insane, however Franks looks to be a legitimate passer and Patterson was a package deal with his brother. Read a quote where one of the scouts there thought Franks was the most NFL ready QB there.
I've watched them both on film and I like what I see in Patterson more, he is a pocket guy with mobility, whereas Franks is a runner with a strong arm. Pardon me if I don't have faith in the ability of Les Miles to turn a zone read guy into a capable throwing QB.
I don't disagree, in fact I don't have confidence that Miles can take a pure pocket passer and turn him into a capable throwing QB. I'm just saying that Franks has real deal ability to be pocket passer, what Miles does with him is anyone's guess.
So I guess we are where we always are, hope for the best but expect nothing great from the quarterback position.
If all those rumblings are true I have to believe that read less if how talented he is it ends badly for whichever school he ends up at. Drama queens almost always get what they ask for.
He's going to Ole Miss so we will get to see first hand how good he is or isn't, and who the better QB is.
My hope is that Felipe Franks continues to have faith that CLM and LSU can help him to become an outstanding throwing QB and my wish is that Mr. Franks' hope does come true and he becomes a first round NFL draft pick after helping LSU to at least one national championship.
