Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton I agree with everything you said except I don't think Ridley looks big and tough enough to play FB. Pratt could be used, but I don't think we have it in mind and I don't think he does either. Pratt runs fairly upright also, he reminds you of a Beanie Wells type. I wonder what type of blocker he would be since he doesn't really look like he is used to getting under people.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton :geaux: I say we take him IF it doesn't cost us at a position we need more and as long as Allen is a solid commit. We're getting down to a very limited number of spot available and I'd hate to see us wind up short. He's obviously a talented kid and I'd love to see him at LSU as long as it doesn't cost us in a more critical area of need. :LSU231:
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton His measurables from a combine on Scout are listed as 5-11, 216lbs, with a 4.86-40 yard dash. Maybe he has grown 3 inches, gained weight and gotten faster, but that 4.86-40 time is a concern. I think we would be better served to look elsewhere for a LB.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton Alex is a solid recruit, and even with Allen we still have depth concerns at FB, so I understand that. However, with limited scholarships left in this class I'm just not seeing it...
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton I know people are saying we have potential depth problems, but we had the same exact depth problems this season as we had only 1 pure FB on the team. FB's rarely get injured.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton Except this season it was a Sr - we knew what we had with him. While I'm sold on Allen & I think the coaches are too, you don't know for sure what you are getting with any recruit. Bringing in 2 recruits would give us a little more wiggle room there in case one isn't developing as hoped. That said, I still don't see it with limited scholarships...
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton I'm sorry, but when you start to consider rounding out your class with kids like Singleton, Tahj Jones, etc., it doesn't bode well for getting the 5 and 4 star guys we are after. The coaches have/had an idea of where we stand with these guys, ex. Campbell, Debose, etc..., now Randle, etc. and if we had better options we would be exercising them.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton Guys like Singleton and Jones are more or less back up plans. We arent likely to get DeBose and forget about Campbell. We are very unlikely to get any big time OL as well. Randle, Montgomery, Myles, and Migo are the likely big names we will/most likely get.
