China Girl's not technically a cover. It was cowritten by both Iggy Pop and David Bowie when they lived together in Berlin. I agree with almost everything said here. I've never heard the Eddie Vedder one, though.
I hope that wasn't sarcasm. I just have useless trivia stored up there. David Bowie just happens to be one of my favorite acts, too. Some good covers that Bowie has done include Across the Universe and Pennylane (both originally by the Beatles).
I didn't know 327 listened to David Bowie. He was jamming out some Richard Marx at his last tailgate. He got on top of the hood of someone's truck and did a few pelvic thrusts. I had no clue that he liked the Bowie-type genre of music. I'll never forget the time he did a cartwheel when Ace of Base came on. That was a good time, too.
I'll get back to you with a fave, a worst goest to the Dixie Tricks covering Merry Christmas from the Family by Robert Earl Keen. I'll throw that in as a fave for now REK doing The road goes on forever, even though he wrote it for willie nelson. (I think) not sure if that counts as a cover?
no carface, that was not sarcasm, i really didn't know it was co written by bowie. dammit cajun, you're sharing all my awesome moments. i don't think it was richard marx and his awesome hair, maybe it was george michael. then again, i pelvic thrust to every song so does it really matter?
