Is that a law? I choose for myself how I wish to comport myself during the National Anthem.

And, by the way, here's a point that gets lost with the "force them to stand for the anthem and salute the flag" people: when you FORCE somebody to honor something then the reverence loses all meaning. That's Kim Jong Un and Hitler brands of reverence.

Force them to do something? It is a place of employment. My company forces me to have a certain dress code. Are they Nazi's too?

Frankly, they dont have to work in the NFL. Trump didn't make standing for the Anthem law.

    Fake outrage.

That's exactly what Trump and Trumpanzees have said the NFL owners should do.

That's the way I was raised and over time, I'm always disappointed at how many people don't adhere to this. Then again, I live in CA.

I can say that the time I embarrassed my daughter the most was an incident at the Coliseum when we were set to play the irish. We came down the tunnel right when the anthem was starting. Almost everyone removed hats, hands over hearts, and were quiet. Two irish fans wouldn't stop talking. So I asked them to be quiet....not shut up or zip it, just please stop talking. At the end of the anthem we got in to it and it got ugly. For me, I don't understand why folks can't take a couple minutes of their time on that day to think about the greatness of this country, how hard we fight for freedom, and how much some have sacrificed for it.

Yesterday I had flipped the channel to ESPN for a minute and the two newscasters were discussing this. One guy asked if fans even know why the protests started and then said no they don't. My thought was, if the fans don't know why it started, then obviously the message they are trying to send isn't working. He was an idiot!

    on both sides

How to respond to our National Anthem is an American's right to decide,.. that said, common courtesy to those around you dictates that you should stfu while the anthem is being played

Do the players ever have any idea what they are protesting? End racism? Stop police brutality? Here's a couple of stats for you:

    1. Last year 117 more white men were killed by the police than black men.

    2. Last year over 7800 black people were murdered. Only 273 of the killers were white.
