Here's a good one... NASA is moving the space program to Starkville because it has no atmosphere. -Skip Bertman :geaux:
How many people go to Moo St? It seems to that with a ton of college students, there would be bars there to sell them beer. If not, there is a goldmine for someone who opens a bar in Starkvegas.
about 16,000 give or take some, but they also have a branch in Meridian that counts toward that total. they do have a few bars, but until last year they had to close at midnight. last year they started letting them stay open until 1:00 on fri. and sat. nights. plus the stores don't sell beer cold, it is a pretty dead town. if you don't know somebody having a party, you are kind of screwed. i know this because although i am a huge LSU fan, I attended MSU for undergrad and grad school.
I knew about the no cold beer in Starkville, it used to be like that in Ruston,LA also but kids would just go to the next parish over and go into the town of Grambling for all the liqour and cold beer you want. Is the neighboring county to Starville very close?
you can drive about 20 minutes to West Point, or you can go out into the woods just across the county line and some guy has a trailer set up as a beer store selling it. Starkville does have liquor, though. The liquor stores close at 10:00 I think.
If yall think Starkville is lame, try out Tulsa,OK. Tulsa is comparable to Baton Rouge as far as the size of the city goes. Liqour stores close at 8pm. And the beer you buy is a good one full percent weaker in alochol by volume.
When Rick Pitino arrived at Kentucky, he actually thought the name of the town was "Starksville" when he was interviewed before a Kentucky-State game.
I stopped at a bar in Starkville that advertised "TOPLESS AND BOTTOMLESS WAITRESS'S" It was no big deal tho, they just left off their rain hats and rubber boots.
