I think Jefferson gets some playing time late in the first 3 games. If one of the top 2 guys gets injured and you're down to say, Lee with Jefferson as the backup, I'd like to know that JJ doesn't have to go in against Fla. or Ga. without ever having seen the field before. Get JJ some snaps the first 3 weeks.
Last year, we were predictable with running Hester up the middle on 4th downs and RP on the option when he came in. But more times than not, we were successful, even when predictable.
I can only remember a couple of times where the option didn't net at least 5 yards. It was executed so well it didn't matter if it was expected. And Hester's heart was bigger than the defense's might on those 4 down plays.
That article you linked by Glen Guilbeau I believe was the same guy that was on 690 am New Orleans the other day and he stated the qb situation at LSU was the worst it has been since Sol Graves.
egad based solely on that remark, sounds like a grave situation to me okay, I just didn't say that ultimately, Sol Graves did not head into that season with the O-line, RBs, WRs and TE that we have in 2008....huge difference....the QB doesn't necessarily have to win games, just has to NOT lose them
In respect to RP on the option you are right but the few failed options were with Flynn on the keeper. Flynn just could not sell the option like RP.
Good point. He just said that Hatch was not an SEC caliber qb and Lee has the tools but he has no game experience and same goes for Jefferson.
I said this past season that Hatch was not an SEC Caliber QB and at the time, he wasn't. But he has gotten world's better. If for nothing else, he is tough as nails. I can tell ya that.
