It figures. Sure, that’s why their top officers were forced to resign earlier this year. The BBC is about as blatantly anti-American and rabidly anti-Israeli as it gets. It’s totally despicable and more often than not totally distorts the news. Hell, they even had some of their own correspondents covering the war in Iraq resign because their reports were being edited to reflect the BBC's troskyist political slant. Fox is the only fair and balanced news coverage on the planet. However, their Israeli coverage is left of center because most of it comes from the AP and Reuters news services.
the results of this poll are interesting. not including me, 17 of 18 people thought fox was most fair. amazing.
Its not that Fox News isn't slightly slanted to the right, although there are plenty of liberal commentors and guests, its that the others are slanted so far to the left.
so of course that leaves one to wonder, do you mean that you make it 18 of 19 OR that you voted for someone else?
I can live with someone voting for MSNBC, they are 2nd best. I think Chris Matthews is excellent. He is a Democrat but you wouldn't necessarily know it by watching his show. He is one the best on TV. Also, Scarborough is excellent and of course gives a very conservative viewpoint. CNN is a joke just like the big 3 networks. Maybe moreso. Crossfire used to be a good show that was fair and balanced. Now they added an audience to the mix. They load up the audience with flaming liberals and Tucker Carlson is the sacrificial lamb representing the Republican Party.
i voted for msnbc, they seem a little less overt about their politics. i could be wrong though. i give scarborough credit for having the same last name as my mom. i dont use the most scientific techniques. i actually thought dennis miller was on msncb but now i realize i am a complete asshead and he is on cnbc. my main point is that i dont mind if networks are skewed. i expect them to be. it sucked years ago when everything was liberal and nothing was conservative, but now that fox has proven there is a huge market for a conservative perspective, i imagine that in the future the media will more accurately reflect the political leaning of the people, because there will be more and more and more sources competing for our attention. fox was smart, they filled a big empty space in the market that people wanted.
The fact is perfectly objective news is practically impossible. We are all human beings and bring our history and experience to every event, whatever it is. The main point for me is this, of the networks that more closely resemble the typical American's viewpoint Fox news would definitely win. The other networks have an agenda to push that is so far outside of what middle America believes that it really is disturbing at times. If you ever see them discuss a subject that you know something about personally and see how far off the mark they are it makes it abundently clear that they do not see the same things you and your neighbors do. I agree that Fox is somewhat conservative in its bias but at the same time I would say that the majority of Americans are also somewhat conservative. How else do you explain the success of the Republican party in the face of all the liberal propaganda on the networks? Even prior to the emergence of Fox the country has recoiled from the liberal agenda whenever they have seen it, understood it and then had a chance to vote on it. The perfect example is the Republican congressional successes during Clinton's first term. In any case, the left has a decided advantage in the influence on the society as a whole in regard to modern media. That may be the only thing that stops them in the end. At some point people realize that the reality of life is best met and experienced among the people closest to you. If the right does win out in the end it (obviously I pray that they do) it will be because of the people and conversations in the shops, with neighbors, in the churches, etc. and not on the tv or in the movie theater.
Tim Russert is also on CNBC. Russert is the best interviewer, far and away. He is as hardhitting as they get. He is the Jim Gray of politics (or you can go the other way with the analogy). I surely could not guess Russert's political affiliation. And I think that is awesome. That means he is doing his job.
