You are talking to a man who has to get his granddaughter to show him how to right click. I don't think how tech savvy you are but @TerryP could turn this place into a smooth running machine with lots of enhancements in no time. Including fixing the function that would let new members join. I know a bit about vBulletin but the comparison to Xenforo is like comparing a 93 Yugo to a 2020 Lamborghini.
You will be happy to know that I have advanced past that point. On a more serious note, I post from a HP laptop that occasionally freezes. The mouse won't move. I've tried Google with mixed results. Any help appreciated.
