LSU's offense didn't beat ANYBODY last week. LSU's special teams and defense won the game hands down. If JJ was a good/great option QB it wouldn't matter if teams knew it was coming or not. There are plenty of teams that run the option 100% of the time and are still FAR more effective at it than JJ and LSU. If JJ were "perfect" at running the option we'd be slapping teams in the mouth with it. Instead our option scheme sputters at best. Neither is the excuse that "defenses have to respect the pass now with JJ" work because this is his 4th year. He's thrown plenty of passes. The reason Miles doesn't use him in throwing the ball more is simple, he's not very good at it. This isn't his first game ever. He doesn't need real game "reps" to throw the ball at this point. He's a senior that's been a starter now in all 4 seasons he's been on the team. I really didn't want to have to be this person because I think we'll need both QB's moving forward.
Anyone who knows what an option looks like can see JJ does not run it correctly. A ****ing peewee league QB can run it better.
Much like Miles did leading up to the Bama game and then stick with who ever has the hot hand. I think when Lee is on LSU has a more dynamic and explosive offense. However JJ gives a good change of pace. If JL gets rattled like in the Bama game sit him for the game, Miles definitely made the right call there.
JJ doesn't run the option to perfection, no. But he has definitely improved on it since last year. He at least takes an angle now instead of staying parallel to the LOS. Perrilloux actually ran it really well.
