Ok, I am going to attempt to reason with you. I understand that you live in Arkansas, and you have to listen your Hog fans all day. You know more about the Hogs than most of us, and I am assuming that you want us to beat the Hogs as much as anybody because you will get ears full if we don’t. As for last year’s game (IMO Its irrelevant because this year’s teams is MUCH better) but I'll entertain it because it means so much to you. No, JJ did not get it done against Arkansas last year. Yes JJ stunk it up as a matter of fact. But, Yes, when your defense plays a poorly as it did, your chances of winning a game like that are slim to none. LSU is not built to sustain that type of damage on defense (80, 85, and 40 yard TD passes in the same game we allow one RB to rush for 180 yards as well) and then bounce back?? We are not designed for that style of play. PERIOD You can’t get upset with someone because we don’t share the same opinion. I haven’t been on here seeking out Lee's flaws, you know why? Because he is a Tiger, and he is part of this team whether I like it or not. So is JJ. You have to calm down a bit. JJ started one game against a cup cake team, why? None of us know! Just like none of us know why he started so many games last year, or none of us know why RS hasn’t attempted a pass in an LSU uniform, or why Hatcher continues to get PT, or why Lee ran the option last week, or why CLM eats grass! Just trust CLM, he wins! He isn’t perfect, and he has made his share of mistakes, but take him for who he is, good and bad. Trust him, he makes 3.2 million dollars a year to make these decisions. His decisions have led LSU to the promise land before, likely to get us there again, and probably again and again. Lastly, we are 10-0, we have 2 halves at QB that can shine on their given day, I trust CLM will the one who is shining against that defensive set, that given day, in that particular game. We are not perfect, but in my HUMBLE opinion, we are hands down the best team in college football. And the voters unanimously happen to agree with me. Lets enjoy this ride, we will miss it when it’s over!
I"m not upset at anyone. It's all pure .. monolithic .. debate for me. No emotion at all. Yeah .. I want LSU to beat the pigs in a bad way. I've enjoyed this year unlike any Tiger Season in the last 4 years. I'm not asking you to agree with my position .. I"m just stating it. I'd really like to trust CLM in his decisions. Afterall, he has more on the line than I do ... something about him getting a big raise if he wins the NC this year. ... and I look at this year, .. it was a good decision to pull Lee in the Bama game given that he has an option QB in que. I've never disputed that. It was a "rational" decision. But then I look at last year when the roles were reversed. Like I detailed on another thread .. the AR game was essentially tied starting the second half .. 20-21. Our defense gave up one big play and a FG, for 10 points. Our offense had 5 series. The first three .. 3-outs. The fourth, drove to the AR 8 yrd line, then a "Team loss" of 19 yards, ending up in a FG. On the fifth, JJ fumbles ... end of game. CLM didn't make the call to get a stinking JJ out of the game. He has undying faith in JJ, he has absolutely NO CONFIDENCE in JLee, the guy who beat OR, MSU, and WVU with no JJ in site. This was again echoed this last weekend in the WKU game .... CLM: "We thought we might go with Lee a little earlier than that, but Western Kentucky kind of proved to throw some wrinkles at us that we didn't necessarily anticipate," Miles said, referring to WKU's frequent blitzing. "We liked Jefferson in there in that situation." My paycheck is not on the line, but I"d like to see LSU get the :crystal:. I don't know what'll happen, but putting last years AR game together with the comment made regarding the WKU game, it sure seems to me that CLM hasn't changed a bit, and "could" likely leave an underperforming JJ in the game, something he would not do, and did not do with Lee in the Bama Game.
Well, in regards to the WKU game, JJ got it done, we only punted twice, and aside from the safety, we scored on every posession in the 2nd half. I'll never take away from Lee and what he has done for this team. I can only control what I can control. I trust CLM will do what he feels is best. I hope that its the right decision, and it doesnt cost us a game.
Yep .. JJ played really well IMO against WKU. Other's have pointed out stuff they saw that I'm not qualified to agree or disagree, but I though he did a really nice job. ..and we agree on one thing .. I hope we win. I"m pretty confident that we will win. I'm even confident that we will beat down AR, Lee or Jefferson ... or both.
What about the safety, was that a dumb ass play call, or was Jefferson a dumb ass for not checking out of that play? Or both?
I believe this may be due to him looking over his shoulder. When he makes a mistake he gets yanked. When JJ makes a mistake he remains in the game. After the first INT against Alabama we yanked him and kept him out for two series. When he returned the coaches didn't call a slant or screen. They had him throw deep into coverage. I don't think they did him any favors with the play calling. I think the two-QB system works with our current personnel. Neither are well-rounded enough to handle all QB duties. It will probably take both to win the title. Hopefully Miles will find the perfect balance. If he needs some help he can call me. I believe Lee would play more relaxed if he knew there wasn't going to be impartial treatment based on performance. Keeping the opponents guessing is great! Keeping the players and fans guessing...sucks! :hihi:
OH ..that was due to poor field position ..coulda happened to anyone. Lee would have been pulled for it, but since CLM was wanting to "evaluate" JJ, he left him in. Like I said .. CLM has TOTAL faith in JJ, he has ZERO confidence in Lee. I don't know why ... but that is just the way it is. I just hope we see the "good" JJ for the rest of the season. .. because he's going to be getting the majority of the snaps. Besides, I doubt we'll see the Lee we've seen the previous eight games. His confidence has probably already been crushed by the fact that his coach has no confidence in him. It'll be back to the unsure play and mistakes. They were saying Lee had rose up to be a leader of the team, was a lot more vocal in practice. I'd be willing to bet he's backed up into the shadows, and hardly says a peep anymore. This is now JJ's team. .. and CLM has led the way. I hope I'm wrong .. but it is what it is..
I don't know if I buy this completely, in fact the inverse may actually be true to too much of an extent. An example; Last year bama, we are in 3rd and long deep in our own territory and IMO it is the game. We have to punt and bama gets the ball back with too much time for my comfort level. He puts Lee in and he hits Randle I believe on a fly pattern for the first down. There is no question CLM loves him some JJ. I just hope that he never digs us into too much of a hole that Lee won't be able to bring us out of it. So far so good.
Watch that play again. We had 1 receiver, Randle, who was lined up on the left, covered by a corner with a safety over the top. He was the only person who ran a route. Why didn't Jefferson check out of that play when he saw the safety over the top?
