My worst fear isn't that we only have a pretty good team that looses competitive games to elite teams some years. My worst fear is that we have a terible team that is never in games with anyone. We are nowhere near there. Next year.
Florida really isn't an LSU rival though. We have become rivals over the last few years because of the championships. But..... the reason we have to play Florida every year is because Auburn played UGA every year, and the next best thing to do for the heads in Birmingham was to make LSU play UF every year, which is a result of Bama playing Tennessee every year. The LSU UF rivalry was a forced rivalry.
Yes that is true in some cases. With Alabama and Auburn they got it right. But Auburn vs Florida was very heated as well. I do remember LSU vs Florida in some heated, knock down games. Can't match everybody in the hate and loath department. It is nice that some of these rivals are in the same division. What Les was thinking a few years ago with Alabama being the new number one rival, even with recent Auburn success is beyond me. I would have thought LSU always felt toward Bama what Bama always felt toward Tennessee. .

I know how you feel about Ole Miss, I grew up watching Billy Cannon's run every Halloween period. Any great rival games had that something extra that went with it. I think about Auburn, Tennessee, LSU and the real concern for me every season was how well any of these heated rivals were doing during the season. Just goes to show how excellent these teams have been over the decades. Over these many years I will always believe we got your best shot back to Coach Mac.
