Evangelicals Can Be Incredibly Strange

most of Christianity used a second century writers work as the basis for an everlasting torment in hellfire.This was "Dante's inferno" What are the wages of sin? Death ...Death is NOT everlasting torment in a hell fire.Death is ceasing to exist ,blotted out ,finis,you are done,it is over ,kaput,school's out....never to be thought of again. We have 2 bodies a mortal or flesh body that gets old and sick and eventually dies, and a spiritual body that doesn't get old or sick .But that spiritual body can still die. Basically your belief is we live forever, we just choose where.Don't you think that is a little vain of man? I could go on about the three words that were all changed into the english word hell even though they had entirely different meanings .Also , I grew up in a southern babtist church ,which I am obviously not anymore.You can google the term for this particular belief of mine...it is refered to negatively as "annihilationism" .Among the stranger denominations that believe this are the 7th day adventists and Jehovahs witnesses.What can i say? even those knuckleheads get something right once in a while.

So you are saying that there is no hell or lake a fire?
You are saying we just die and some will live again as far as our spirit goes?
No where in the bible does it talk about hell or lake a fire or are you saying
Someone wrote hell in there at a later date?

 

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't thing that the concrete idea of hell and the lake of fire emerged until the later gospels of the New Testament. So in a way it was wrote in at a later date.

 

I don't believe all of them are lying, either. I just think that somewhere along the way, some DID lie, and many have fallen victim the false teachings. I also believe this tarnishes the truths taught in the Bible.

 

right. thats how folklore works. a little misunderstanding here, a little lie there, maybe an exagerration or two, pretty soon you have a full blown legend getting passed around as true.

of course, i wouldnt question the bible. other faiths are crazy though.

There were three words all translated into the english word hell(sheol torturro,and gehenna.) Sheol simply means to be buried.Torturro means to be caged away in a dark place and refers only to angels ,never man.So that leaves gehenna.
Jesus Christ "fear not those that can destroy your flesh body,but fear(correct translation here is revere ) He that can destroy both body and soul in a gehenna like fire. ( or translated into english a hellfire ) There was a valley on the edge of Jeresulem where garbage and trash was continously burned along with some dead animal bodies and very ,very few dead human bodies.The valley of Hinnom or Gehenna is refered to symbolically,because everyone knew of this place. If your body and soul are DESTROYED, Are you still alive suffering everlasting torment?.No,you are cast into the lake of fire and poof you are gone.Christ is saying that men have the ability to destroy your flesh body,but only God has the ability to destroy both your body and soul.If you want to believe bad ol' Uncle John is in hell right now frying like a piece of bacon hopping from one foot to the other ,that is your choice.

 

The Bible says that if it is indeed of God, that there will someone present to interpret what is said.

I once had a pastor tell is this story----

He was at some function that had several preachers from several of the local churches. The guest speaker was a missionary who had been in some country where very few people spoke a certain language. (like some tribal language from Africa) During the meeting, someone in the congregation stood up and began to speak in an utterance.

The visiting missionary said "My God, My God. This man has just cursed God with the most awful words and curses." You see...Satan has power too.

Satan was second in charge. Second only to God. He was the most beautiful angel God made. But that wasn't good enough for him. Satan is still alive and trying to compete for every soul. Satan is still powerful today.

 

Almost every single subject for you is not important ,because you don't think it is a salvation issue.And in most cases you are correct.My problem with this is salvation is milk and it is pretty much all that is talked about in most evangelical churches . A baby drinks milk.The bible is full of meat yet salvation ,salvation ,salvation is all that is discussed. If you already have salvation shouldn't you learn something more?
For the 7000 year old argument genesis ch 1 verse 2 and the earth was without form and void.This actually means that the earth was destroyed.There was life on this planet and it was made a waste or ruin.Dinosaurs are even mentioned in job ch 40 verse 15 .Read the description of the behemoth.

 

Let me just give you the defintions of a few words used about this subject. The first word is for a wooden tree, ets. However the tree of knowledge is not "ets" which is a wooden tree .It is "atseh" which means Backbone.What kind of a tree has a backbone?

Second word "touch" as in we shall not eat from it ,neither shall we touch it .gen 3:3 =touch is "naga" = to lie with a woman sexually. Wow ,can an apple tree have sex with a woman?or a banana tree ?. Maybe the orange tree can.

I am not making these up, they come from a good ol' Strongs concordance that has every word defined. Think they really ate an apple now?Or maybe the event that took place in the garden was just a little more serious than eating some fruit.I could give you more words and the definitions but I realize this is a controversial topic and most people don't want to hear it.
