    Couldnt say it any better.

If you wanna play in TS, bust your arse and do what is asked of you. That is why Garrett got the scholly in the first place. Just like an academic scholly, if you dont meet the requirements of that said scholly, you lose it. CLM has publicly said (at SEC media days) that Garrett did not have the want or desire to compete....hence, scholly got pulled. Life's a beatch, get over it.

To set the record straight the side of the Garrett's story is not all factual. Les and the staff talked to Chris before he received the letter and this wasn't the 1st talk they have had with him about his willing to compete and keeping himself in shape. He got plenty of opportunities to work the weight off and to show he is willing to compete for the job. Miles even said he could earn his scholarship back if he wanted to but instead Chris wanted the transfer to Ole Miss (which wasn't a secret within the locker room because he talked about Ole Miss before all this). Ole Miss wouldn't take him the 1st time around.

Miles has already been quoted saying he just didn't want to compete for the job. Would be stupid to go and re-quote anything on it because anything he said would we twisted to bashing Chris in some way. It was handled and no reason to talk about it again. The players themselves need to take responsibility for themselves.

It isn't against the rules to over sign. That is why the NCAA allows transfers, medical hardships, greyshirts, etc...

Garrett still wouldn't be here even without the Zach Lee stuff. The staff knew that the MLB still very much in play when this occurred.

As for Porter, yeah we waited a little too long to inform him about the greyshirt since Wing was ruled qualified a couple of days before practice started. Porter took it as a slap in the face unlike Fordham who took it in stride. We weren't saying he couldn't be apart of the team just that he wouldn't be on scholarship for 1 semester and we didn't tell him he had to pay his own way either because he could have taken a semester off too. Still unfortunate because unlike Chris he didn't show unwillingness to compete, etc...

But Porter was not too hurt by it given he recently inquired about the possibility of coming back to LSU since he is homesick in KY. He realizes he probably made a mistake not accepting the greyshirt because he would have been practicing with LSU for months by now but now he will have to sit out a year and his eligibility clock is already running.

If the NCAA wants changes in what they created then so be it. I am all for it and I think they will make changes soon like they did last year after NSD when they decided you could only greyshirt if you took less than the maximum number of signees the year before. The SEC has already made changes with the signee limit after the Ole Miss signing of 34 or something like that 2 years ago. Maybe the NCAA will follow suit and require the same for all conferences.

Attrition is nothing new for any school and will continue forever so get used to it. Players get hurt, get homesick, want more playing time, coaching changes, sanctions, legal troubles, etc... Coaches aren't the only ones making these decisions. There is no crying in football.

yeah, USL-IIS just thinks LSU and Bama are the only programs who sign over the limit and should be poster programs for the issue when in fact (at least in LSU's case) there are many other programs that abuse the practice where LSU does not....and it aint even close.

the piece was just poorly done and made LSU appear as though they are the only program that does this....all because a disgruntled kid wanted to talk.

i enjoy reading the fact that LSU-SIU is always posting that the story is basically factual. Those two words right there prove that he himself does not believe what is going on or maybe he is a member of the garret family. whatever the case he is full of crap. anybody that watched the piece noticed that they singled out lsu for something that every team does. just like another poster stated earlier, ESPN is still upset at les miles press conference calling herbie out for his false statements about him going to mich. ESPN is so hypocritical because they (like was also said earlier) employee Craig James (took money and helped SMU get the death penalty) and all sorts of other guys that have problems. But are quick to call out people and bad mouth them. Just like w/ TTech and the Leach/James shed incident. They bad mouth 75% of all players and coaches at one time or the other but win and you are the next golden boy. They could of made their point on oversigning w/o singling out 1 school. Other than the kid at MIA, that is what they did and that is where the problem lies.

All that may be about to change, who knows what the courts will do; THEN, there could be a precedent established. Not just IF it can continue to be done but also HOW MANY:

I wouldn't be very hard pressed to find a post of yours talking down the SEC. All I'd have to do is go to the Cap One thread, where you talk down the entire south.

You like to make little smart ass comments, probably thinking us southerners ain't smart enough to catch it anyway, such as "the whole SEC conference dominance thing that pops up". And you like to claim you back stuff up with data. Here's some data for you---

    12 BCS Nat'l Champs
    50% from the SEC
About to add to it (even though I hope the Ducks pull a miracle)

If we wanna talk about SEC dominance here, we will. We can back it up.
If we wanna talk down about the Rose Bowl, we will. That's an opinion thing. If you come back and talk down about the Sugar, we're probably gonna throw up some data that explains WHY Hawaii had to play there instead of in the Rose. It's because the actual SEC champ didn't get to play in the Sugar, because they were off winning yet another BCSNC Title.

I don't even WANT you to stop posting here. I happen to think you've earned respect here. But I'll call it if I read your little cheap shots you've been taking lately. I'm no mod...can't do a dam thing about it except respond. And if I were, I wouldn't want you gone. Now USL-UIS, he would've been gone a long time ago. Every thread he's in turns out JUST like this one.

It does not matter if Garrett didn't see getting his scholly pulled coming or not. Garrett did not do the things he needed to do to keep his scholarship and LSU sent him a certified letter informing him that his scholarship was being pulled.

This is no different than an employee that gets fired for milking the clock. Sluff off and you risk losing your job.

Garrett and Porter both were welcomed to stay on the team. Both OPTED to leave the LSU football program. Porter was asked to grey shirt for the greater good of the program, which happens in every major program almost every year.

Had either Porter or Garrett waited for Zach Lee to get drafted, one of them would have had a scholarship.
