Then why isn't he even close to being in shape now? Injuries can have strange effects of athlete's mental states, and you don't always know how they are going to react to it.
Everyone here is worried about nothing even if he isnt in the best shape right now he has 2 months to get there, and he will get there or someone else will be the running back. This is not even a reasonable concern 2 months is a ton of time to get in good shape.
First off, he's not far from being in football shape right now. One of my best friends has been one of the guys involved in his rehab. His daily workouts are harder than anything you've probably done in your life. He gained some weight when he couldn't run as much as he was used to, but he has been working out like a beast on both aerobic and weights. And now that he can work the knee a lot he'll be losing most of that weight, except for the pounds of muscle he has put on. Gary told me he is much stronger from the waist up now and that he needed to get a little stronger up top. He also said that Moffit keeps an incredibly close eye on all of the players, weighing them almost daily and testing them often. And Moffit is a conduit to the coaching staff with reports everyday.
Yeah, I was going to say that you should never worry about any of our players being out of shape with Moffit around.
Per DD this morning: Good to hear, as one (or both, but do you really want to burn a RS for both?) should have a chance right out of the gate to see the field and contribute.
Atleast one of our true freshmen RB's will not redshirt, but both Keiland & Scott were told that they won't redshirt if they come in and work hard. Whether it's one or both of them will likely depend on Broussard. Although Cajdav's post has me feeling a little better. I think Murphy will redshirt.
I know that some injuries that involve a long layoff can result in the atrophy of leg muscles, so that a player may be solid again in his knee, but unable to perform at his old level until and unless he builds up his leg muscles and flexibility again. Harvey Williams and Amp Hill come to mind. One year was not enough to get them back into prime playing shape.
A lot has changed since Harvey had knee surgery and Amp's was termed as a catastrophic knee ionjury with 2 complete tears, so I'd say Alley should not have as much trouble as either one of them. Of course you never know as each person is different. Also, they have a lot of exercises they do in rehab to try and prevent the muscles from beinf stagnant and atrophy from setting in. I did them while recuperating and was back to full strength really quick, but my tear wasn't as bad as Alley's I suspect.
