McFadden would be in my Top 3, no doubt. He'll have a good year too if he remans healthy. With Peyton Hillis as a lead blocker, McFadden will do some damage to a few secondaries this season (and I hope he starts with SC!) Irons is about right at around 5th-7th..... and remember, he was mired at 4th on AU's depth chart at the start of the '05 season (Smith, Lester, Stewart, Irons). But following injuries to Lester and a position-change for Smith, Irons was moved in the rotation and got steadily better as the season progressed. Auburn's OL will experience some changes, but nothing dramatic. Overall, especally with the increased depth at the TE spot, AU's offensive blocking should be similar to the '05 group.
i have this funny feeling that LSU fans will be chanting for another RB by th name of Williams by the end of the season... Broussard/Williams combo in 07...
I agree. McFadden is a real badass. Irons will also be limited if the refs actually decide to go ahead and blow the whistle once his forward progress is stopped. That'll definitely cut down on his YPC.
I would really like someone to tell me how Tre Smith was ever awarded a starting running back or punt returner position at Auburn. I hope he wins it back this year though
The question marks about Broussard's and Vincent's knee injuries clearly hurt them for 2006 consideration. They are the only LSU backs that have paid enough dues to be considered.
His knee will be ready for the season, I just don't know if he will. Coming into last year, he was stronger than ever & primed for a great year. But he just doesn't seem into it right now.
Unfortunately, you are probably right Red. If fact I think either Jimbo or Les has some kind of love affair going with Hester. So much in fact that I think he would probably still see the ball even if AB and JV were not injured and all our young guys turned out to be all Americans, and the other top three backs from the nation transferred to LSU, and if they gave DD, LT, KF, JA, and a few other guys thats time has long past an extra year of eligibility, that we would still put him back there.
