    You are 100% correct, sir.

Interesting, though, that the Falcons wanted Joe Gibbs first and foremost. I'd have thought they'd want a younger guy.

If he does leave this season, I'd contact Steve Spurrier and every good, young NFL defensive coordinator I can find (Mike Zimmer, etc.) We'd need a good, aggressive coach to properly unleash the speed and talent we have on that side of the ball, plus the sort of youthful enthusiasm needed to compete and recruit at the highest levels.

It's no surprise that the best coach/recruiters in the land are Pete Carroll, Nick Saban and Bob Stoops.

Don't pay attention to Len Pastabelli

This guy is wrong more than he's right. Nick Saban made the decison last night to stay at LSU. He's a good friend of Jerry Angelo's and as a courtesy will listen. I'm so sick of Pastabelli putting out these stories to enhance (or decrease, in this case)his credibility. There's no interview with Atlanta - it's BS. Now let's get on with compiling a top three recruiting class AGAIN!

According to Skip in a Chicago Tribune article posted in another thread, Nick turned down New York Tuesday but is expected to talk with Chicago. No mention of Atlanta.

By the way, both Rich McKay (GM) and Art Blank sit on two separate NFL Diversity Committies.

This is a courtesy call---Saban paid one to Jacksonville last year, so it's not new---to generate some good press in Atlanta ("Hey, Art Blank is serious about winning because he's talking to the best of the best") while waiting for the Rams to lose so they can hire Lovie Smith.

    Pretty simple.

Wouldn't Coach Saban also want to be courteous, as he would like for his players to be considered fairly by pro teams? If he shuns them, could that possibly diminish our players at all in the eyes of the "all-knowing" pro teams?

That may sound far-fetched, but it could be a PR move.

    From Fox Sports......enjoy the quotes:

The sudden change of schedule means Angelo finally will make his pitch to LSU coach Nick Saban, long considered the front-runner for the Bears' head-coaching job, league sources said. Saban was not believed to be in San Francisco on Wednesday, and it's unknown whether he and Angelo will meet face-to-face. They are close friends who speak on the telephone several times a week, so it might not be necessary for them to sit down and talk about the job.

But one NFL head coach said Wednesday that the worst-kept secret in the league is that the Bears' coaching hunt begins and ends with Saban.

"I don't think Saban will take the job, but they are going to give him every opportunity to turn them down,'' the coach said. "Everyone I've talked to said they'll know one way or another by the weekend.''

The agent for another coach believed to be on the Bears' list of candidates also said Saban would get first crack at the job, "and everyone else is in the on-deck circle.''
