may enjoy this read about recent UO offensehttp://behindducksbeat.blogs.oregonlive.com/default.asp?mode=blog&month=12&year=2006
Dinardo's downfall ultimately was the coordinators. By all accounts he recruited well but basically would not fire Lou when it was all too apparent his scheme would not work in the SEC. Miles first "major" hire was Pelini as the DC and without question he hired one hell of a coach to capitalize on the talent we have. Now Crowton. Miles understands where he is and what is necessary to succeed. Bring on the SEC ( and various other schools) !
Looks like a solid hire and shows that Miles should be able to replace coaches as they move on. With his time at Tech he should be familliar to most La high school coaches and be able to hit the ground running as far as recruiting goes. Really looking forward to seeing what he does with the many weapons available next season.
I don't think we will be "opening" it up more next year. Actually I think we will be more run oriented. The strength of the offense next year will be a running attack to include Flynn with his running ability. If Jamarcus had stayed then I think it would have been a more passing oriented attack.
This is from my first ever post on this forum (on 1/3/05): some of y'all need to learn to listen more to the women around here. :hihi:
Here is what was said about him when he was hired at Oregon: "I've known Gary Crowton for three years and known of him for about 10 or 15 years," said Bellotti. "He's been an excellent football coach, both as a head coach and an offensive coordinator at the Division I level and in the National Football League. He's had great success coordinating offenses, he knows how to make quarterbacks successful, he's very innovative and creative within the offensive structure and his philosophy fits well with mine." http://www.nbc11.com/cfoot576/4105843/detail.html
Look for our new look Crowton Tigers to run a single back offense. The thought of not having a FB on the field will make Miles invest in large quantities of Tums. We should really enjoy this offense as LSU fans. Speed, Speed, and more Speed. Passing to set up the run. I am loving the prognosis.
You know that as fact? Or are you purely speculating??? Certainly I would have thought that two top 5 finishes in Miles' first two seasons at LSU would have been enough to silence pointless critics. ...ugh, and throw out the fact that Miles continues to hire top coordinators.
