I hear the Weekly Reader (any other old farts out there) is putting together a panel of third graders to take their place. Hell they couldn't do any worse. :thumb:
Well, we'll never solve the Heisman through a play-off, but we sure could end all this poll bs with one.
ABC lost their bcs bowls to fox (except the rose).. simple as that... None of this will be solved until the NCAA quites being p*ssies and officially recognizes a poll... Question: SHould the BCS come to an end, do you think that history will look less favorable on the 2003 LSU NC?
I'm not sure that recognizing "a poll" will resolve the controversey in the minds of the fans who generously support CFB. Until an objective system is put in place, like the playoffs used throughout NCAA athletics, subjective polls will always be debated and subject to scrutiny. Anytime you have a select few individuals deciding a "championship" based on their opinions (opinions that can be unfairly influenced) , you're going to have controversey. Hence the term "Mythical National Championship." FWIW, I don't think any future "system" will take away from LSU's accomplishments in '03. That defense is one of the best I've ever seen.
I have to agree w/ Caddy on this one. A playoff is the only way to go. And I won't get on my soapbox again about how preseason polls are complete BS and give an unfair advantage to teams that are "supposed" to be good... No, I'll shut up and make this one of my shortest posts ever.
