Who cares about the defense, it will always be good. Honestly, if Glenn Dorsey leaves, it may help us more than hurt us in that it gets us more exposure in the draft and that will help us recruit. We have so much talent on the DL that his loss may barely be felt, especially with the LBs and CBs returning intact. I love the guy and he has played great but JaMarcus leaving leaves a much bigger gap in our team that DT where we have consistenly plugged in player after player without any dropoff.

I contend that the only reason Herbstreit pimped up JR after our game was so that he could use us losing him as a reason for us not being in his preseason rankings.

Hopefully RP/MF will have a great spring game to erase the voters' doubts(I wonder if these guys even pay attention to things that aren't on a highlight reel) and will vote us back into the top of the polls. It is sad that preseason rankings really do matter in the grand scheme.

Considering today's developments, I just hope we have enough quarterbacks to have a controversy.

There may be some changes in the playbook, but not nearly as many as you suggest. Miles will have the last say in what does and does not go into the playbook, and I fully expect him to keep a lot of the current plays in.

I think he's being overly pessimistic putting us at 13, but his "why not" statements are right on, especially on offense. We're losing the most prolific (in terms of scoring) pass-catch combination in school history, along with the other starting WR. At best, we'll enter the season with a quarterback who's started one college game and has thrown less than 40 passes in his career. We'll have a new coordinator, which means there will be kinks to work out for a few games. Defensively, if Dorsey leaves, that means we're losing two 1st team All Americans. Regardless of the talent behind them, that kind of loss is not easily replaced.

We're losing our top 5 players

    JaMarcus
    Dorsey
    Landry
    Bowe
    Davis

I don't think there's much doubt those 5 were our best 5 players. It's not going to be easy to replace those guys. I don't think you can rationally say that we deserve to be top 5 after losing those 5 Tigers. Then again, most of us thought our Nat'l Championship team wasn't exactly ready yet either.

You guys have had great recruiting classes (even the one during the transitional coach period has good players)

I'm sure there are good replacements. Matt Flynn anyone?

I think you have to look at what every other team is losing before making that assumption.

The term "smoking crack" comes to mind.
