Miles said he really has not thought about the Michigan job, not even for fifteen minutes. You saying he lied.
That's another concern that people aren't talking about and a good point. I have no idea which assistants he'll end up bringing but I hope Crowton stays. I'd hate to lose Moffitt and Searles too, but I'm pretty sure they stay. If we lose Crowton, it's installing another system we'd be looking at and that's not favorable for our young players with PT going into spring practices. If he stays, we're ahead of the game in that department.
RUN EVERYBODY! The sky is falling, the sky is falling.... Our season is ruined! We'll be 4-8 next year! We'll lose to Tulane and North Texas and Troy! Breathe deeply, everyone. We all knew this was going to happen. It's happened before. The program is loaded with talent and LSU will pay money to attract a great head coach who'd like to win a series of national championships. And whoever said the coaches don't care about winning today - well, you're a poor judge of character. The distractions may cause a loss, but the coaches certainly want to win - every time, every game. The nature of being a coach and a competitor, dontcha know.
You connect the dots. When he specified 15 minutes, didn't you find it peculiar for him to put a "Time" on the amount of time. That stood out WHEN he said it. Also, don't you remember him saying he hadn't and wouldn't look away and even think about the UM job while he was getting ready for what he had in front of him, "An opportunity to play for a title in the strongest conference"? You think he meant that while he was preparing to leave and will he say that next year when he's in the Big10?
First, I am a Michigan fan - lifelong. Second, I want to tell you that you would be impressed by how Michigan fans are feeling for all of you at LSU - this entire process of losing a coach, searching for a coach, someone else losing a coach so you can have a coach - really, really stinks. Believe it or not, Wolverine Nation will be quietly rooting for Tiger Nation for years to come because of this whole deal. That being said . . . Neither LSU, nor Michigan broke their deal this week - I can assure you based on my knowledge of the situation that Bill Martin would not and did not contact Les Miles this week to speak to him about the job. Heck, four days ago Martin was said to have offered the job to Kirk Ferentz at Iowa. Martin would not in any way have wanted to jeopardize LSU's preparation for their game. Miles truly has not been conflicted this week. He is giving 100% to this game - you can rest assured. Why? Because I am firmly convinced that this deal has been done for weeks, if not months. While this is not the only example, it is a bit of anecdotal evidence, weeks ago - while at the Michigan State game in East Lansing - an individual with strong ties to the university and Michigan football going way back, in expressing disgruntlement at Michigan's 1st half performance, made an off the cuff comment that this won't happen next year with Les - clearly leaving the impression that this was a done deal. This is just but one of many indications that I have had from "people in the know" that this was done for many weeks, if not months, BEFORE Lloyd Carr stepped down. Again, I am truly sorry that this had to break today - that shouldn't have happened. I am pulling for the Tigers today and wish you well in the Sugar Bowl. Geaux Tigers!! :geauxtige
We all know what happened the last time our coach was going somewhere. Remember that Iowa hail mary? that's exactly what happened. Those kind of things are not just a distraction for the coaches, it's more of a distraction for the players.
Moffitt isn't going anywhere, and it is going to be tough to lose Searles as he left for Georgia a year ago.
