I understand what's been said. I just have a hard time believing it. I'm sure he tricked them or something. I've shown the front desk my ID with the last name the same as my brother and asked what room he's in and they won't tell me. Hard to believe they would allow this man to ask where a very attractive woman (is that word okay?) is staying and then request to stay next door. There must be more to the story. Maybe so, I just have a hard time believing it. I mean, we can't ignore that she may have ulterior motives here. $75 million is a large sum. If it's not about the money, come out and say you're donating it to a charity that helps educate and prevent this type of thing. And maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think she's been an emotional wreck for the last 8 years. But as I've said before, I can't know as I'm not an xx chromosomed individual (this term has to be safe).
Had an Army bud that, we'll let's just say he may have had trouble with the booze. I once found him drunk and passed out in hotel lobby in nothing bUT his skivvies. Guess he either locked himself out of his room or got lost or whatever. The hotel people told me he just wandered off the elevator and crashed, they were trying to figure out how to determine what room was his.
Why does there have to be more? Maybe he simply paid them money and they caved. Does it matter? On 3 occasions (there was more than one video on his computer), he got in to the room next to hers. So either they are stupid or their practices fell far short of protecting the privacy of a customer. They are liable. What ulterior motives? She's already said she wants to make it a point of protecting privacy, holding professional establishments responsible for doing what they say they will do, and making a point about stalking and the victims it creates. The amount is only the ante, par for the course in filing civil damage suits. There is no guarantee she will get that much or any of it. A jury could find in her favor and award her a small amount. Why should she donate the money? Not saying she wouldn't but she suffered the damage, it would be her award to claim or not. Did you read what her dad said about her? It's his daughter. You think he might have noticed the change in her? Just because she's gone to work, earned a living, held her head up, doesn't mean she's not an emotional wreck behind closed doors or when the camera lights go off. She saw a psychotherapist for a year. "Andrews suffered symptoms of post-traumatic stress and was diagnosed with adjustment disorder after being secretly filmed nude in her Nashville Marriott hotel room, Comstock said. The former ESPN sportscaster “couldn’t get through the day without fear and anxiety and checking the Internet for articles about her, comments about her,” Comstock explained. Andrews tried the antidepressant Lexapro at some point to treat her anxiety, the therapist said, adding, “It wasn’t that helpful.” After the video incident, Andrews “said she had been nicknamed ‘One-Click Erin,’ which meant if someone saw her name they would make one click looking for the video,” Comstock said. Andrews told her therapist that she started dressing more modestly so no one could make negative comments about her. “She would wake up in the morning worrying about what would come out that day, what she would be caught off guard by,” Comstock said." When a stranger invades your privacy, puts your naked private moments out for the world to see, it fucks with your head....every...single....day. So you have a friend who engaged in activity that he knew might put him in a dangerous situation, he ended up in his drawers, and was seen by you and the hotel staff. So not even close to what happened here.
Like I said, just because she's not cowering in a corner doesn't make her a non-victim. She was a member of Florida's Dazzler's dance team in college and she not only agreed to appear on the show prior to this incident, but actively campaigned to be a contestant. Clearly it was a goal and dancing is something she enjoys. When you are a pro....you practice being camera-ready, and that's what she was doing....her job. She is also highly competitive and wanted to win. Perhaps all that focus on the show helped relieve her stress and anxiety. Another DWTS contestant Shawn Johnson was also terrorized by a stalker, was about to testify against him, and she stated some of the same reasons for why she chose to keep competing rather than quit. "I think sticking with Dancing With the Stars—I was given the option to pull out and go home, but I decided to stay with it," she said. "I think having that sense of family, keeping something normal, gave me something to focus on and not think about it.... The show as a whole, she said, "distracted me from everything else going on." And there was a lot. Johnson was called to testify in her stalker's trial and was terrified of facing him for the first time in court, but somehow found the courage to persevere. "I had to. I had to go up there. I didn't want to. I kept asking if I could stay in the back room or go home, but it's something I had to do. I had to stand up for everybody else out there that's been through it. There are people out there who aren't as lucky as me that actually face them and I just had to go there and kind of help put him away and help anybody else he might have gone after." And terrible as it was, Johnson, currently back in training for the 2012 Olympics, has found at least one empowering benefit from the experience. "Before all this happened, I thought I was invincible. I thought nothing like this could happen to me and nothing would happen, but it was a reality check...It happens. A lot of people go through it, and you just need to realize you can do something about it."
One million is plenty. For Erin, 2 will do. 5 is very generous. (And that's after taxes btw). She wouldn't have made that much doing what she did anyway. 75?!?! What a fucking joke.
