Well if all you are interested in is whether we agree or not with this specific bill, then I guess there is nothing more to talk about because I am not going to read it. I'd have to have a lot more free time to read bills. Maybe that would be an interesting hobby, though.

the idea that you need to read the entire text of a horrible cap and trade bill to oppose it is ludicrous.

if i were to propose bringing back alcohol prohibition, would you say "hmm, i should read your specific proposal"? of course not, you would (or at least should) punch me in the face.

If regulation is done smartly, I believe it can be beneficial. I have my doubts about the intelligence of the bill you are talking about (as I have doubts about everything the government does these days), but I can't say it has no merit without reading it. You said yourself there is need for government. If I feel like there is some merit to the global warming argument, wouldn't I feel the need for some government intervention? I seriously doubt I agree with the degree or method of intervention proposed, but I can see the need for intervention in some way because I know that corporations aren't going to consider the sweet, precious, living and breathing pearl we call Earth. Slight sarcasm directed at martin, if it was not caught.

I don't know enough about cap and trade to say that it is absolutely terrible.
