Clemson's QB is a very very impressive looking kid. If you could designed one he might be what you wind up with, minus Fabio hair
This season is the end of “transition time” from coach to coach. All those Oline players that left before the 2017 season would have played this season. The depth is very shallow this year because of that. That’s why LSU went after those two O line transfers earlier this year, to plug the holes. The good news is that we will only lose one O line player, Brumfield the senior, after this season. Combine that wil the 6 O line players coming in next years class and LSU will finally have solid depth again.
I really don't understand those that think the scheme isn't a problem. The New Orleans Saints, a professional team, is now using jet sweeps and RPOs. Yeah, it's not their primary offense, but its being sprinkled in because it helps to keep a defense guessing. So Sean Payton, probably the best offensive mind in the NFL keeps changing with the times. LSU keeps running the same crap that we've always run. I understand the Saints have a great line and an even greater QB, but if you are waiting for us to be able to blow Bama off the ball, you're gonna be waiting a long time. We're not gonna out recruit Saban. But if Auburn can beat them every 3 years, we should be able to as well. You just have to realize that your offense is outdated....
Why should we be happy about having the same players on the OLine that Bama blew through this year? Is that going to change because they have another year of experience?
We are using jet sweeps to from time to time watch the game replays like I do. Jet sweeps are not magical secret plays that you spring on someone will make yardage every time. We moved Jontre Kirkland from CB to slot just to run jet sweeps. When you have a QB new to the team, an OL that lacks depth and injured, good but not dynamic RB's and young WR's doesnt matter what play you run against a team like Bama.
Well with that attitude lets just not show up for the game. Off season is for getting stronger faster and learning the plays better. We also had 5 OL come in last year and 5 more this recruting cycle. Of course we will be better next year plus our RB's will be better and hopefully we will have a couple of stud RB recruits.
In 2002 LSU was 8-5. Then just one year later we were 13-1 and national champions, all with the same players. Nick Saban later said that they won that championship because of the work that was done in the offseason. So yes, one year of experience goes a long way.
