1958 I was in the 1st grade in Walker at the ripe age of 6. Billy Cannon came to visit us and he was my LSU hero.

IMO - When you look at the Top 5, You see 4 teams with already talked about Heisman candidates on them, AND THEN YOU SEE LSU : 1) Landry Jones 2) Trench Richardson 4) Kellen Moore 5) EJ Manuel…And it even gets deeper as you move on down the list, 6) Andrew Luck 7) Russell Wilson 8) Brandon Weeden……I can keep going, but the point is, that this LSU team is just that, a great TEAM. Not one man carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. We also have depth! I think that is what makes this team as special as it truly is. The strength of individual players only make the man next to him play that much harder, and as a group we shine.

The true strength of this team is the muddafloppin monsters we have on the line. Both offensive and defensive linemen are the best in the country, especially as a group.
On offense, any half decent runningback could run behind this line. I think red and sabanfan could rack up 100 yards behind these beast. Lee has plenty of time in the pocket to either make the pass or throw it away. This offensive line is the heart of this offense.

On defense, the big uglies up front are stopping the run. This allows our defensive backs to shine. These backs can blitz the qb or run blitz because the defensive line is doing such a great job. They can pressure the qb without help allowing everyone to drop back in coverage and they force every run outside where our backs can beat them to the edge and drop them for big loses. Hell, our defensive line is even intercepting the ball. The big nasty blood thirsty beast up front are the heart of an exceptional defense.

We don't need a heisman winning player. Our front lineman will stomp your heisman hopeful's teeth out. Don't believe me, ask the duck.

I've always enjoyed every LSU football season as a whole, wanted to break TVs and walls after and during some games though. Overall it is always a great time during football season, but this season does have a mystical feel to it. I'm a little more pumped before each game, a little more confident. This year feels something special.
