  4. I've read the Mayans were further advanced than we are currently but that their focus was not on material things as the focus of our civilization is. They may not have been advanced in the way we measure advancement, but that doesn't mean they weren't advanced. Don't know how true it is but it is an interesting thought. Europeans were more technologically advanced and destroyed a culture that may have been greater than their own.

    I think there are similarities in the Mayan/Egyptian/Hindu cosmology. There is a lot of continuity in the culture of SE Asia, so I think there is probably something to be understood from their world view.
