It is a virtual impossibility for the world to end in 2012. I will still have a year to pay on my home mortgage.:hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

Greg is an alien from another planet.
If the truth be known the Mayans are really aliens from another part or different universe.
I'm predicting they will return on that date.
If you've seen War of the Worlds then you know the rest of the story.
For those that haven't seen it I'd recommend watching it so you know
    whats coming!

Ok wow I never thought so many so called males would not know a line from a guy movie, but oh well...

" I put it to you Greg" comes from ANIMAL HOUSE when they are at the frat council.

Yeah well, with all this alien talk, I was trying o figure out what science fiction movie it was from.

Now, about the end of the calendar: Is it possible, that only one guy from that mayan settlement knew how to make a calendar, and he died one day, and no one else knew how to finish it, so the last day just stayed at that?

Maybe but it is said that around that time will be the rebirth or a new begining. Hell anything is possible.

There is also a theroy that in the gulf of mexico is a doomsday device that crashed here during the Mayan rule, and that that date marks the day that it will rise from the depths and end the world.

I just find it amazing that even if it was just one guy, that one guy had the presence of mind to be able to think light years after his time. Most humans only think of life and existance as it pertains to them, but this person or this culture was able to think long after that.

    And what about this..........

The Mayan culture was advanced well beyond its years and means yet they died out. (yes I know their are mexicans running all over the place but they couldnt tell you **** about the Mayan culture anymore then a scientist can)

A civilaztion that was light years ahead of most of the world, yet they were unable to prevent their own demise.

And here we are light years ahead of any other point in the history of man, and yet we contuine to grow it smaller amounts of time then every before.

We are on the verge of being able to replace any part of the human body with something man made, we are almost able to cure or prevent any dieases we have ever faced. We are on the edge of ultimate greatness, but so were the Mayans and even they were unable to prevent what happened to them.

What makes us think that we are any smarter then their were in their surroundings? While we be able to prevent the downfall that every single culture that has ruled the world has faced, or is it possible that we could even be to smart for our own good and create the thing that will bring about the end to this empire?

These have been the incoherent ramblings of a drunk man that has had 2 hours of sleep in 48 hours and just spent 5.5 of those hours loading a 26 foot Uhaul by himself, only to have to get up in 7 hours to get on the road and start driving the 12 hours that it will take to find him home at last!

    My head now hurts, goodnight!

Yo CTK, I figured it out earlier in this thread, as you can see from the Peace Corps reference.

Did anyone else notice that the date is 12/20 2012. It's like racecar; it reads the same from either side. Also does this date calculate leap years?
