Avalanches. The Dakotas - too cold. Same for Minnesota and Wisconsin. Nebraska - you could die of boredom. Maybe Ohio and Indiana. Tennessee? Tornadoes. Arizona? Too damned hot
the numbers I posted awhile back were for a game, I'm treasurer,.. a gal there said, in los angeles a few days ago the temperature reached a record high 121
What a wild few days. We threw a few things in the truck and waited. Couple sleepless nights watching from the front yard. It looked like the GD apocalypse was coming. The two above were from smoke coming out of a huge fire SE of us. This is from the front yard. The mountain in the background is about 4 miles away. Around 1000 acres were on fire on the other side and top. The glow was pretty damn scary. Luckily they were able to call in air support and do some water drops, which helped quite a bit. Its 70% contained now, so it should be good. The size is tiny compared to others around the state. High winds and super dry forest make for ripe conditions. Throw in some meth addicts and assholes as well.
too scary, whew, glad that your situation has stabilized,.. my uncle lives in Beaverton, my Sister in McMinnville, she says the smoke there is unbearable,.. she could see as she drove home that there'd been a small fire next to their highway, lives in a hilly neighborhood in the woods, they're pretty vulnerable
I live in the next town over (Newberg) towards Portland. Air quality is improving slightly here (likely due to the shift in wind direction). it still sucks to be outside in it. pretty thick. Just thankful i have a house to stay inside though. Towns are getting wiped out pretty quickly by the fires.
A headline that came across last night. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/oregon-wildfires-state-braces-for-mass-fatality-incident/
