Maybe I'm naive, but I won't believe it works like that.

Besides the Quack12 loves the Ducks,..

People in the PNW love to talk about how their weather ain't so bad. They spend a lot of time on it. Why? Because the weather is that bad. GDF is right about the weather where he lives. He lives on the dry side of the state. Much more tolerable, I think, minus the cold. But in Eugene on up to Portland and then to Seattle, misery for 9 months out of the year. I'm not kidding. It's nothing like any of my La. brethren have ever experienced unless you have lived in the climate.

The thing that makes me laugh the most is that people in the PNW say that there is too much humidity in the south, as if they live in some sort of low-humidity climate themselves. BS. You do realize that when it is raining in mist-like or drizzle fashion, or worse, the humidity is at 100%? And since it rains in western ORE almost 9 months out of the year, we are talking high humidity and cold. Do you know what it feels like to be outside everyday when it is 35-44 degrees in the winter (for a high temp), raining, drizzling, misting and at 100% humidity? It feels like sht and this is when suicides go way up. The people in western Oregon, by and large, are depressing people and you wonder why.

Sure, it is hot and humid in the south in the summer. No arguments there. Our weather is not the best in the world. No arguments there, either. But outside of part of July, August, and part of September, I'm willing to bet that 99% of you would hate the climate of the PNW. During that brief dry time, however, the weather is nice. So if you visit the PNW, make sure to do so after July 5th and wrap up by mid-September. Drink the beer, hike the mountains, raft down some class 4 and 5 rivers, and head to the beach. Then get the fark out.

So when do we get to talk football again?

When I first moved to Eugene I was 20, and really hadn't even realized that there were gay people. So at first, the homos creeped me out pretty badly, after a while I realized they were not a threat.

Then I saw the strategic advantage,.. more girls for me!

Groups of women would hide out in gay bars, so they wouldn't keep getting hit on. So, me and my friends started going to the gay bars, we'd walk in, and there'd be tables filled with bored women. Good memories those.

Springfield is right across I-5 from Eugene. You know what the hillbillies over there like to do for fun on Saturday nights? Go to Eugene and fight with hippies. They kind of remind me of some of the dudes from Chalmette, but without that urban edge.

    Sucks, bro.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this Oregon-Stanford game. Seems like a lot of people have Stanford winning this one, but I am not convinced of that. I watched the game last year. Stanford started out quickly, but then Oregon went right by them. Add to this the fact that Stanford has a number of injuries. They barely got by USC. I'm going to go with Oregon winning this game.

Watch out for poor ole Oregon - Pac-12 Blog - ESPN

    http://espn.go.com/blog/pac12/post/_/id/29473/opening-the-mailbag-duck-cardinal-consternation

Ted Miller: The human polls have Alabama at No. 4. The BCS standings rank Alabama No. 3, but the Crimson Tide has only a very small edge over No. 4 Stanford due to the computers, which will disappear -- and not reappear -- if the Cardinal beats Oregon on Saturday and then wins out.

But, yes, one of the travesties this season was Oregon getting dumped from No. 3 to No. 13 and No. 14 in the AP and coaches polls, respectively, after it lost a glorified road game to LSU. It was as though a false narrative -- LSU dominated Oregon -- got started and the public never allowed the facts of the game to change a good, SEC story.

Further, to me, pollsters should have given Oregon credit for having the courage to schedule the game. I know if LSU had lost, I certainly wouldn't have dumped the Tigers 10 spots in my power ranking vote for ESPN.com.

In many ways, you can, in fact, argue Oregon's performance against LSU approximated Alabama's. The Ducks produced three long TD drives: 19 plays, 79 yards; 13 plays 68 yards; 10 plays 70 yards. Alabama produced no TD drives, though it did have 62-yard and 79-yard drives, which netted three points. And we've noted before the statistical similarities on both sides of the football.

Other than the Ducks losing the turnover battle 4-1.

All that said, I voted Alabama fourth and Oregon sixth, just like most everyone else. Why? Alabama has a better resume at present, see wins over Penn State and Arkansas. And, to be honest, I think Alabama would beat Oregon.

That said: I'd much rather see a rematch with Oregon and LSU than Alabama and LSU. Just in terms of pure entertainment purposes. Oh, and I'd go to the game if Oregon was in it.
