I hear you,.. my way of thinking too. Could be a message to Texas, shape up or phuck off. Although, I hope Larry Scott doesn't mess around and lose out on Oklahoma and OSU. I really want them in the PAC.
Articles from Oregon beat writer Rob Mosely, and dumbass sports opinion columnist, George Schroeder. Note: Schroeder to date, has been totally wrong about this subject,.. every time. "Pac-12 decides NOT to expand" | Opinions on Sports with George Schroeder | The Register-Guard .....Scott met with Texas officials last weekend in Los Angeles. But a source indicated the commissioner left the meetings believing the school’s newly established Longhorn Network was a significant obstacle that couldn’t be overcome. Pac-12 members had agreed to equally share all revenue and to cede all media rights to the league. Sources were adamant that the Pac-12 would not allow any member to retain its own rights or revenue. In the statement, Scott indicated as much, taking what appeared to be a very thinly veiled shot at Texas: “We have a strong conference structure and culture of equality that we are committed to preserve.”..... From an article by scouts, two weeks old but insightful: 4. The Pac-12 sort of sucks. Losing to LSU isn’t anything to get in a twist over, and it’s theoretically possible that Oregon’s 40-27 loss In Dallas might have actually been the national championship, but the Ducks have holes. Stanford looks terrific, and Utah blew away BYU, but the league as a whole just isn’t that good. Again. As I fought with Pac-10-now-Pac-12 fans last year, playing a bunch of tough non-conference games doesn’t mean much if you don’t win them. With Oregon losing to LSU, Arizona State losing to Illinois, Washington losing to Nebraska, Washington State losing to San Diego State, Arizona State losing to Oklahoma State, Colorado losing to Hawaii, UCLA losing to Houston and Texas, and Oregon State losing to Sacramento State and Wisconsin, it’s hard to take anything that comes out of the conference too seriously.
You think the PAC sucks,.. got it. I'm not clear on the purpose behind your point? I enjoy the dialogue though,..So, I'll play along. The PAC is very deep in good experianced QB's,.. I expect the conference to be very tough this year. I expect Stanford, Arizona, USC, California, Washington, to field very strong teams. I'm thinking Washington State, will contnue to improve. Maybe upset a team or two. I'll go out on a limb; I predict Arizona State will have a disapointing season,.. Dennis Erickson will be fired, and former Duck, Mike Bellotti will become their new head coach. Beaver's have a great coach in Mike Riley. They have little depth, and they are hurting. Oregon State's offense the last couple of years, has been a 2 trick pony. The Rodgers' brothers,.. Quiz graduated, and James is hurt bad. Good chance they only win 3 or 4 games this year. Maybe Riley can save their season,.. I don't think so. I lived in the LA area when Bill Walton played for UCLA, I was a big fan. I still tend to pull for them. Hopefully, Newheisal can turn them around,.. I don't think so. Colorado? .. truthfully, I don't really know what to expect. Utah looks strong so far, the spin has been that they will get beat up against strong PAC competition, and struggle at the end of the season...opcorn: Oregon ? We've got a lot to prove,.. Saturday is going to be a good test in a hostile venue. Except; Arizona doesn't have much of a run game. Ducks intercept Foles twice. Oregon 42 17
I'm with most of these observations. Right up to where Mike Riley is a great coach. Great don't leave a lot of room. He did however play for a great coach.
I liked the comment that the lsu/uo game was like the national championship being played in the first game of the season. Wouldn't it be something if it works out in the bcs computers that we have a rematch in January ? That would be one hell of a return match. The way the author made it sound in this article, everyone in the PAC 12 sucked BUT uo.
Mike Riley led the Beaver's to a winning year, after 24 consecutive losing seasons. When he left to become coach of the SD Chargers, Dennis Erickson took over at OSU, and reaped the rewards of Riley's fine work. Riley returned to Oregon State, and the Beavs have been near the top of the conference, until last year. "Great don't leave a lot of room", I agree with that. Perhaps, he's not a great coach, but he's done a lot in a very tough place to win. I admire him, even Duck fans know, he's a great guy.
Early in that video one of the UO players started throwing the bottles into the stands and a teammate grabbed him and shuffled him back to the locker room. The coaches loves that kind of teammate.
