tirk im the lyrical jessie james

so was saban until he wasnt. money dictates everything. no one wanted to pay him anymore, not even the dolphins. same may happen with kelly. hard to be an nfl guy when no nfl team wants you.

but i knew he'd roll the saints today and the nfl higher ups are fickle as all get out. so he's safe for now. until he's not.

im a big kelly fan so im pulling for him. i think he will be fine. just made too many changes to prove his point to the gm and owner.

Holy shit. He threw more passes (completed more too) in ONE GAME than we threw the last two YEARS.

Kelly is the GM, or at least he has the powers of the GM. Some of his personnel moves have been very questionable.

When Kelly was Coach at Oregon he was always referring to the NFL, when asked about the playing in the game which determines the best football team in America, Chip said something like, "the best team in America wins the Super Bowl". Oregon fans always knew Kelly would leave for the NFL, he never said he wasn't going to eventually. He's a NFL guy,.. a great coach,.. a real wise guy,.. and a big smart ass.

He recently said, "I'm just not a candidate for a college job,.. I don't think our pro offense would work at the college level"

    Other Chip quotes:

"We want taller, longer people because bigger people beat up little people,"

"Thermonuclear war. Are you for it or against it?”

Last time I checked, there is no 'Hall of Average.'

If your expectations aren't to be the best, then... you know, nobody rises to low expectations.

Chip won't and is not making it in the NFL.

He might want to monitor the career of Steve Spurrier.

I have always harbored a great deal of respect for Steve realizing he could not and cannot best the best at the NFL level and returned to where he can be content and -- with such a profession -- be competitive.

He found out that NFL coaches have to work a lot harder than college coaches and don't have much time for golf.

Have to agree here. When people say "he's just an NFL guy", never say never. I have no idea if Kelly would leave or if hiring at USC is even an option but moving from the NFL to college and vice versa is part of every coaches thought process.

At least part of every coaches agent's thought process. Kelly's agent wouldn't be Jimmy Sexton would it?

You kind of back yourself into a corner when you demand full control over player personnel and all that. If you succeed great, if you don't....... It's remembered.
