Marshall, the only active player with 1,000-yard seasons as both a receiver and running back, is "likely" lost for the season after suffering a leg injury against No. 10 Utah on Saturday, and undergoing surgery for an unknown injury

    Are Eagles Avoiding Redskins' Nickname?

It sure looks like the Eagles are trying to keep Washington's controversial nickname off their website

.....If the sparse usage of the nickname on its site was by design, as it sure seems to be, the Eagles are the first NFL team to take such a stand. As Florio points out, this is a potentially huge step for those who want the team name gone. The name has had many critics, even powerful critics, but until now the criticism has come from, not only outside the Redskins organization, but outside the NFL....

On Tuesday night, former Oregon QB Joey Harrington joined the show "Talkin' Ducks" and had a heartfelt rant directed at bandwagon Duck fans. Harrington was not pleased with the response to Oregon's 62-20 loss toUtah.

I've been reading the book, "Game of Thrones", recommended by someone here who will remain nameless. That shit is the most horrible I've ever read!!! Totally reviling,.. violent throughout, sadistic as hell, sexually perverted, completely without merit,.. just ugly as can be. The story line is hopelessly convoluted,. The list of characters at the end of the book is 55 pages long and growing.

The most likable character is afflicted with dwarfism, who killed his father with a crossbow while he sat on the toilet, and then strangled his prostitute girlfriend for making fun of him. An example of the story line,.. The military group who seemed to be the good guys at the first, teamed up with a guy living in the forest with his daughters and wives, turns out his daughters are his wives, about 40 of them. The lord of the manor would get them pregnant and if the baby born is a boy,.. they eat him for dinner.

So, I'm over 5,000 pages into this thing, just finished book 5,.. and I still can't tell who the good guys are. It was supposed to be a 7 book series,.. but now it's hinted that it will be at least 8. The author published the first book in 1995, and book 6 is rumored to be released sometime in 2016. So it's gonna be at best another 4 to 7 years before the series is finished. How am I supposed to remember this frickin complicated story for that long. What really worries me is, when George RR Martin's first "Game of Thrones" book came out, he looked like this...

    now he looks like this...

If the SOB dies before the final book comes out I'm gonna be pissed. Thanks a lot @LaSalleAve.

So, you've read 5000 pages of that? It was all I could do to read your description.

So you hated it but are still reading book five? Well join the club. The story is enthralling but it is a difficult read. Martin creates fabulous characters and interesting scenarios, but his plot is tedious and there are so many plot threads going on that when you come back to one, it's awkward. There are plot lines that go nowhere. There are way too many characters, but they die frequently, including the best characters. Martin has a great imagination but he's a horrible writer.

We keep reading because it is impossible to see where it is going. Martin is very good at not following all of the established cliches and hollywood scenarios. The TV series actually cleans up a lot of the bullshit.

It's a tough read, like R rated Tolkien. He probably will die before 7 is finished. I find the pre-story far better than the main one.

I just finished the Kenzie and Gennaro books by Dennis Lehane, the last 3 books I read in 3 days. Great series.

He deserves credit for one thing,.. I've never read a story where the plot twists have caught me so much by surprise.

Thanks for the recommendations 123 and LaSalle.
