Thats true, it's against Federal law. I have a medical marijuana card, the counselors warn not to get caught possessing in National forests, BLM land, National parks, or the post office.

Actually not true. The Federal Government still has laws about it but different states have their own views. Here are just three states, I am sure there are many others (Colorado comes to mind).

Washington- Initiative 502 defined and distinguished marijuana from other parts of the cannabis plant, legalizing small amounts of marijuana-related products for most adults, to tax them, and designate the revenue for healthcare and substance-abuseprevention and education. As noted at RCW 69.50.101, cannabis is still classified as a schedule I controlled substance under federal law and subject to federal prosecution under the doctrine of dual sovereignty. Possession by anyone younger than 18, possession of larger amounts, and the growing of unlicensed or unregulated marijuana remains illegal under state law.

Oregon-Cannabis in Oregon relates to a number of legislative, legal, and cultural events surrounding use of cannabis (marijuana, hashish, THC, kief, etc.). Oregon was the first U.S. state to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of cannabis, and among the first to authorize its use for medical purposes. An attempt to recriminalize possession of small amounts of cannabis was turned down by Oregon voters in 1997.

From 1999 through 2005, the ratio of Oregonians using cannabis outpaced the general United States population by 32–45%. In 2003–2004, Oregon ranked among the top five states for cannabis usage of people 12 and older. Oregon is also one of the largest cannabis producing states, ranking fourth in indoor production, and tenth overall in 2006.[citation needed]

In surveys conducted in 1974 and 1975—one and two years after decriminalization—it was found that 2% of respondents said they did not use marijuana or cannabis because they were unavailable, 4% for legal or law enforcement reasons, 53% reported lack of interest, and 23% cited health dangers. The remaining 19% were using or had used it at one time.[1]

In 2012, the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act, an initiative to allow personal marijuana and hemp cultivation and use without a license was defeated in a state ballot.

California-The recent history of Cannabis in California comprises a number of legislative, legal, and cultural events surrounding use of marijuana, hashish, and cannabis. California was the first state to establish a medical marijuana program, enacted byProposition 215 in 1996 and Senate Bill 420 in 2003. Prop. 215, also known as the Compassionate Use Act, was approved by initiative with a 55% majority, allowing people with cancer, AIDS and other chronic illnesses the right to grow or obtain marijuana for medical purposes when recommended by a doctor. SB 420, or the Medical Marijuana Protection Act, was signed into law by GovernorGray Davis and established an identification card system for medical marijuana patients.

Pot is legal under state law in Colorado and Washington state. While illegal under federal law the feds have agreed not to prosecute anyone in those two states for the time being. It is also legal, under state law again in 14 states and the District of Columbia for medical purposes when prescribed by a physician. Again the feds are being very careful about prosecution. It seems to me that is more than a little pregnant if you know what I mean.

Marijuana is a Schedule 1 Drug and is against Federal law.

That's why I wouldn't smoke even if I was in a state that it is "legal" in.

One more thing there are conditions that people have need it to eat and have any chance at proper nutrition. Marijuana is the only thing that allows some cancer patients, many with celiac and Chrones (sp) disease and other illnesses to eat enough to live.

I've always found that others find people from Louisiana to be fascinating. The same can be said of Texas, too.

Both places are considered interesting to folks from other parts of the country.

When I was in Boston over the summer, the first day was something like 72 degrees for the high, and I thought I was in heaven. When the temps reached the upper 80's with high humidity the next couple of days, it was straight-up hot as hell, though.
