the smart person argument here is that these statues represent the past, and that we, by allowing them to stand, do not necessarily endorse all, or any, of what the men stand for. its just history. but in their haste to call everyone racists, leftists make dumber arguments that dont make any fucking sense.

trump actually as a fairly well thought out position on this and was trying to explain it whilst the fuckface press tried to win lib points by calling him racist. he said that tearing down statues is erasing history. and he is exactly right. the press was literally screaming and interrupting him to ignore this point. he brought up washinton and jefferson and that point was ignored too. by bringing up washington and jefferson and asking the press if they want to tear them down, he was hoping they would understand the concept, that this is history. i have seen communist icons and statues in eastern europe where they despise it. its their history. they do well to remember it. if a german town kept their nazi statues as a way to recall history, to remember what can happen when things go bad, thats fine. its their history whether they like it or not. a relic of past times is not an endorsement of everything that relic could conceivably stand for. but nobody can say this becuse liberals are like dogs that bark racism in respnse to every possible point about anything
