We debate whether principles are important in politics and the health of our society. This from Justin Amish says it better than I could hope. “A free society can be built only upon principles of freedom, never upon the principle that the end justifies the means. Liberty can’t be imposed through force; it grows and endures only through persuasion and mutual respect.” https://twitter.com/justinamash/status/1448308995563966469?s=21
So there is no difference between Trump and Biden and conservatives and liberals with respect to freedoms granted to us by or Constitution and Bill of Rights? Are you saying Biden's policies and executive orders are the same as Trumps were? Are you saying Trumps policies at the border are the same as Biden's for instance? Trumps economy and Biden's economy the same?
I’m saying they are both destructive to the constitution and system of government. Of course they have different objectives but the tools used and attacks on the essential foundation of our society are tearing it apart. Neither holds to the principles laid down by the founding fathers and both are eroding the constitutional republic established in 1789.
OK point out Biden and the DEMOCRATS views on 1st and 2nd amendments vs Trump and the Republicans views. The same, a little different or a lot different.
Unfortunately they are the same as to the 1st amendment. Both have tried to suppress opponents’ speech and throttle expression. Neither appear to understand the difference between government suppression of speech and what a private enterprise decides to do. As to the 2nd what did Trump do the was substantially different? However as I said above, it isn’t the objective each supports it’s what they do to the constitution to get there. Their actions (executive orders, legislation proposed and supported attacks on opposition) that I’m talking about. Avoiding the constitutional path even if done with good intentions is destructive for many reasons. If you create a precedent you leave open the potential for someone to use it for bad faith acts. It eats away at the foundation of the government and society. You can’t do good by breaking the rules. All you do is undermine the rules.
Winston if you are actually trying state that Trump is no different that Biden and 99% of all DEMOCRATS about the right to bear arms I choose not to chat with you on this issue. I will be glad to chat with you about anything else. Do you have any idea how foolish you look saying "As to the 2nd what did Trump do the (that) was substantially different?" Do in your heart of hearts believe Trump is no different than Biden about their belief in a citizens right to bear arms will not be infringed? Let's not talk 2nd amendment anything else but.
