gun control people fixate on rifles, as if they dont want to ban pistols. they often want to ban pistols too, they are just going after rifles first, its more politically feasible. from our cold dead hands!
Who are you to decide for me what is necessary? I don't have the right to tell you how many and what kinds of guns you can own. That works both ways.
3 or 4 years ago some guy in China killed 23 schoolchildren in a knife attack. Are knives necessary? Do you want to ban them?
Do you feel outgunned in this discussion? If you had an AR you might not have to summon your fellow liberal for backup.
what is unreasonable? bengal b is making an argument. he believes that its personal what is necessary. maybe he thinks its important to defend his home. maybe he happens to be a jittery fellow with catastrophically bad aim with a pistol and prefers rifles for home defense. so for him its necessary. not unreasonable at all. i happen to be fairly shit at pistol accuracy myself. but with a rifle i am a laser surgeon. and even if its not necessary, thats not sufficient to justify banning the AR. you seem to be unwilling to have an argument about this (again, argument does not imply incivility in this context), you just ignore points and claim people are unreasonable.
