    The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

    Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

    Above is the language in the Constitution. It is a copy and paste from the Constitution. It says, The Chief Justice shall preside. He is not.
    It says "shall not extend beyond removal from office". It says the "Party convicted" shall be subject to Indictment, trail....
    1. Trump is not President but he is under impeachment for things that occurred while he was President. Therefore the Chief Justice should preside. He is not because Trump is no longer President AND the "impeachment shall not extend further than removal from office".
    2. Once impeached or in this case out of office, the ex or removed president is liable and subject to indictment...

    Trump is out of office so this isn't an impeachment. It is political theater. He won't be charged with a crime because he didn't commit one.

    Last month, The Washington Post reported that Trump was slow to act on calling for an end to the riot - which he did hours after it began in a video posted to Twitter in which he called the rioters "special" - because he was watching it live on television.

    "He was hard to reach, and you know why? Because it was live TV," a Trump advisor told The Post. "If it's TiVo, he just hits pause and takes the calls. If it's live TV, he watches it, and he was just watching it all unfold."

    OR, it could be a new member, one of the many thousands of former republicans who are disgusted with the GQP and Trump.

    In the days after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, the phone lines and websites of local election officials across the country were jumping: Tens of thousands of Republicans were calling or logging on to switch their party affiliations.

    An analysis of January voting records by The New York Times found that nearly 140,000 Republicans had quit the party in 25 states that had readily available data (19 states do not have registration by party). Voting experts said the data indicated a stronger-than-usual flight from a political party after a presidential election, as well as the potential start of a damaging period for GOP registrations as voters recoil from the Capitol violence and its fallout.

    I always laugh when people say Trump is the reason for anything to do with the GOP.

    Its like shitting in your pants and blaming everyone else for smelling it.
