So many of you question Trump's responsibility for what happened January 6. You say he didn’t explicitly tell people to be violent or kill. What he did was the culmination of months of agitation and incitement building anger in his supporters. What happened January 6 is a direct result of his actions that day and in the months before. Every leader must be judged on the sum of his work. Was Hitler responsible for the death of 6 million people even though he never killed one or planned the death camps? If you know history he was specifically shielded from the details by Himmler. Was Stalin responsible for the death of 20 million people in the 1930s or Mao for 40-100 million in the years after the communist takeover of China? The obvious answer it that they are because the events happened not only under their leadership but because of the things they put in motion. Likewise Trump put the events of January 6 in motion not only through his words and actions that day but by the choreography of Don Jr’s and Rudi’s speeches prior. Trump had been building anger and resentment in his followers for years and pushing them even harder in the time after the election. He doesn’t get a pass just because after raising the temperature to a flash point he said go but go peacefully. If he knew what he was doing and I think he did, he wanted them to stop the Congress from the final certification by any means. If he didn’t think the mob would actually act like a mob he’s still responsible and criminally stupid. He deserved to be impeached and deserves to be convicted by the senate. As one of his defense lawyers said yesterday he should be put in jail.
Well. using your logic, Bernie should be in jail for the shooting of Scalise, Kamala Harris, Ilhan Omar, Nancy Pelosi and most of the democratic party should be in jail for the deaths and financial losses due to the mostly peaceful BLM/Antifa crap. And even Barak Obama should be in jail for the deaths of a lot of police officers.

The only time the Chief has to preside in an impeachment trial is for the sitting president. Because Trumps is not the prez, he chose not to do so. That is the simple answer minus all of the political persuasion.
