I am going to go out on a limb and make a prediction. In a years time when we look back and the total deaths from this year, there will be no statistical difference between the number of death this year and previous years. The people who have died from covid would have died this year regardless.
Wrong. The CDC is already saying that there are more 50,000+ unaccounted for deaths this year and the Covid death count could be higher than published. This link provides details and methods. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/excess_deaths.htm
You’re right it’s now 220,000 so far and climbing. It will be much higher by 12/31/2020. If you read this and other articles there are 100,000 additional deaths that have not been classified. They fall within the Covid surges and are likely related.
Here’s another article explaining why the death count is not undercounted. https://www.scientificamerican.com/...ZzbWdE1i0T2QSXNPylccybEONr545oX9Fp6V9ETX_57zs
