conveniently left out is that fema is covering 75% of this cost:

“Lizzie Litzow, a spokesperson for FEMA, told The Hill that damage assessments of the early September wildfires “were not of such severity and magnitude to exceed the combined capabilities of the state, affected local governments, voluntary agencies and other responding federal agencies.”

However, Litzow said FEMA approved four fire management assistance grants to five counties affected by the wildfires included in Newson’s disaster request.

The grants will allow reimbursement for 75 percent of firefighting, evacuation and sheltering costs.“

i suspect the bigger issue and why denied is this gem buried in your article:

“Newsom also said funds would go toward helping rebuild public infrastructure, miles of roads, parks, signs and fire shelters.“

not a bad idea. i rent a place so i dont care. my parents have insurance and when katrina messed up their roof their insurance covered it and they got a new roof with zero fees for taxpayers.

people should bear their own risks. you wanna live in firetown, get fire insurance.

It’s still different from how he’s treated disaster in Republican voting states. I would guess that he couldn’t stop the automatic relief noted in the Hill article. Finally it’s just bad politics and optics just before the election.

Of course....but then all those Californians are moving to rural states and bring their liberal desires with them and ruining them. Be careful of what you ask for as you may get it.

If they hadn't given all their money to wetbacks and deadbeats they wouldn't need to be bailed out.

Early voting data in battleground states shows Trump outpacing national polls giving Biden an edge
    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...outpacing-national-polls-giving-biden-an-edge

The Republican Party is keeping pace in mail-in and early voting in three key swing states despite polls showing early voting should clearly favor Joe Biden.

Data out of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio indicates that registered Republicans are returning ballots at about the same rate as registered Democrats in the battleground states.

In Michigan as of Wednesday, just over 1 million ballots have been returned, 40% from registered Democrats, with the same from registered Republicans. In Wisconsin, 40% of the 711,855 returned ballots have been from Democrats, while 38% have come from Republicans. The GOP actually leads in Ohio, with 45% of 475,259 early ballot returns coming from Republicans, compared to 43% from registered Democrats. The preliminary data matches up with the requests by party affiliation for mail-in ballots.

The data contradicts national polls showing Biden supporters overwhelmingly plan to vote by mail or early in person. According to a Pew Research poll released Friday, 55% of voters who plan to cast their ballot in person before Election Day support Biden, compared to 40% who support President Trump.

Biden’s lead is even larger among those who plan to or already have voted by mail, with 69% saying they support Biden, compared to just 27% who support Trump. On the other hand, Trump leads those who plan to vote in person on Election Day, 63%-31%. Pew’s findings echo those of an Axios survey last month, which showed similar splits between those who plan to vote early and those that plan to vote on Election Day.

She did and it does appear he is doing better with Latinos. However do you really think it will balance the known losses he has seen in seniors, women and even non college educated white men?

@kcal Democrats lead in Florida absentee and mail in ballots by over 334,000 returned. This exceeds by large margins previous history. Also early voting shows record turnout in democrat heavy areas with people waiting 11 hours in some Atlanta precincts.
It’s not really a national election but 50 statewide elections. That’s why winning the popular vote isn’t needed to win the presidency. Trump can’t afford to lose any of the states won in 16. Trends don’t support that he will.
I know many hope he wins and hope the polls are wrong....but hope isn’t a strategy.
