http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008103325_alaskatax07.html "Over the opposition of oil companies, Republican Gov. Sarah Palin and Alaska's Legislature last year approved a major increase in taxes on the oil industry... Palin's administration last week gained legislative approval for a special $1,200 payment to every Alaskan to help cope with gas prices, which are among the highest in the country. That check will come on top of the annual dividend of about $2,000 that each resident could receive this year from an oil-wealth savings account." sounds like income redistribution to me. i think its a good idea, but i thought some of you would want to know what you might be getting into voting for mccain/palin.
To help pay for a $40 Billion pipeline that will assist in gaining energy independence while alternative source fuels are developed. It's called not sitting on your ass and waiting for things to fix themselves.
conveniently forget about the extra EXTRA $1200/person? isnt what your describing the hillary plan that got bashed by conservatives?
You got me on this issue. What can I say? It's either vote for the McCain-Palini ticket or vote for Bob Barr. If I vote for Bob Barr I may elect Obama to the white house. I guess what it comes down to is my core values. Do I vote for Democrat or Republican values. No brainer here.
Alaska has the money. Why not help out the citizens. I see you conveniently ignored the smashmouth I put on your criticism about the oil tax.
