Aplogies if this has already been posted...... METAIRIE - New Orleans Saints defensive line coach Ed Orgeron said Wednesday that he would listen to LSU if coach Les Miles is interested in talking to him about a position on the Tigers' staff. Orgeron said he has not been contacted by LSU or Tennessee, though media reports have mentioned him as a candidate to join either staff. A former head coach at Ole Miss and defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Southern California, the Galliano native is in his first NFL season on coach Sean Payton's staff. "Obviously me being from Louisiana and the great school that LSU is, I would always consider talking to LSU about a possible move up in my status of what I'm doing," Orgeron said Wednesday after the Saints began practicing for their game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in the Superdome. "That doesn't mean that that's going to come forward. But, yeah I would listen to LSU, sure." Orgeron said he knows Miles only through coaching and recruiting against him and seeing him at SEC Media Days and the SEC Spring Meeting. "I have a lot of respect for him," Orgeron said. "I get along well with him and I think he's an excellent coach." Orgeron's name first surfaced at Tennessee, which recently hired Lane Kiffin, a friend of Orgeron who was an assistant with him on Pete Carroll's staff at USC. "We're good friends," Orgeron said of he and Kiffin. "Obviously he's going to call me and ask me some things - it's his first time as a head coach in college. He's going to ask me about recruiting and stuff like that, but that's it. "I would always consider going with Lane. I think he's an excellent coach. I think he can win a national championship, but right now my thoughts are beating the Falcons, winning three straight, helping coach Payton make this a great team, and getting to the Super Bowl." Orgeron said he would consider LSU and Tennessee "because of the possibility of winning a national championship," which the Tigers have done twice in the last five years and the Volunteers did last in 1998. "I love coaching in the NFL," Orgeron said, "but chasing the hunt this time of the year (recruiting) - going and getting the best player to commit to your team is always something I really enjoyed. I really enjoyed going against the best coaches in the country and winning, so yeah that's always there." Still, Orgeron said he is happy with the Saints and could see himself staying with them for a long time. "I love what I'm doing with the Saints," Orgeron said. "I love working for coach Payton. It's a privilege to be with the Saints. We could stay in Louisiana for the rest of our lives. We love it. "I expect every year that I'll be in the NFL these things will come up and there will always be considerations in a coach's career. You've just got to look at what's best for you and your family. Right now what's best for me and my family is being with the Saints."
