Sorry folks, but this is NOT your dad's LSU offense. The days of one-player teams are (thankfully) over at LSU. Will it hurt a bit? Sure. But LSU has a LOT of amazing talent. Mitchell has caught Miles' eye, Lafell is going to be a stud, and Byrd looked good to me.

We need to can this Early Doucet chicken little stuff. I YEARN for him to have his day on the field, especially considering the quality of the team, but he's not the only stud we have.

Remember - Doucet was our number 3 receiver last year. Now he's the second coming? C'mon....

Hopefully that's the case, although Doucet is the only WR that we have that I trust with the game on the line. He's proven that he knows how to get open and that he can catch the ball when we need it, but I would like to see Lafell and Mitchell develop into those types of players but remember it took Bowe, Davis, and Doucet about a year or two to really get to the point they were. Lafell looks ahead of schedule while we still need to wait and see with J. Mitchell and Demetrius Byrd. Tolliver is still a true freshman and really has only been in for garbage time minus a couple plays.

Doucet is by far our most clutch receiver. If we are in a close game, Flynn & the coaches are looking for Doucet to get the ball because he consistently gets the most seperation & makes the biggest plays.

We're good enough to win most of our games without him, but it's close games that I worry about not having him for - namely the Florida game. Our defense is amazing, but Florida offense has looked very good this season & our offense will need some production in that game to win it.

That being said, I'm glad that our QBs & WRs will get 3 games to run the offense without him before the UF game, but I hope for a very quick & full recovery.

Unfortunately, he is the only stud we have right now. Last year he was the best #3 WR in the country & probably an early second round pick in the draft.

Me too. Especially since we may (hopefully) have to play them (Florida) twice.

However, if he doesn't come back before, say, Auburn - it doesn't spell doom for our season. That's my point. We've got loads of talent looking for playing time.

i agree. i've really thought lafell and the boys will step up since i first heard about ED's injury. the MTSU game gave them all some valuable play time. i'm also expecting big things from tolliver. in any case, we'll know after saturday's game.

What makes Doucet so dangerous, is his vertical and his hands. We need to develop one of our freshman to help Lafell. I can see Toliver making big catches...he's tall, has good speed, and good vertical. He's caught passes in traffic, and taken licks.

from what little we've seen of him, he also seems to cut and move well once he has the ball in his hands.

I know it was just one game, but I really liked the look of Mitchell last week. His moves once he tucks the ball away are incredible.
