Hey, it's only one list but you'll see similar names on others. And did I forget to say.........Booty?

McFadden is the leading contender IMO with Colt Brennan a very good possibility. You just can't count Booty out though despite the departure of Smith and Jarrett. We do have Vidal Hazelton, Jamere Holland, Travon Patterson (Cali State Champ in the 100 and 200 with PR's of 10.36 and 20.92), David Ausberry, not to mention TE's Fred Davis, Jimmy Miller, and Anthony McCoy.

I think our best hope is KW for Heisman next year.

That's right, I forgot that being from USC automatically gets you like 10 votes, even if you're not very good.:hihi:

Can't even be considered for a vote unless you have something to back it up. And it's 7 votes to be exact. Not much of an advantage considering there are over 800 votes total to be considered. But hey, if you don't like it, then win more than 1 Heisman and we can call it a day. :hihi:

Don't forget, the irish have 7 votes too and they didn't do squat to boost Lady beyond a distant 3rd.

These numbers ought to tell college football fans how much the "Heisman" is worth. How can a qb put up those numbers and not be in the mix? Before you say "Schedule" make sure you look at thiers closely.

To me, this statement says a lot about the Heisman.... "Where you play" as compared to "How you play".

The Heisman is for the best player in college, not a projection of professional potential. Nobody expects Troy Smith to be an NFL QB but he clearly deserved to be in New York last December. Sure there are plenty of NFL busts who have won the Heisman (mostly QB's) but that doesn't mean the award is futile.

I agree that Brennan had some great stats, even Heisman worthy by some standards. Their schedule isn't a joke but it's not as tough as others. Plus, he's able to avoid the media spotlight and week to week pressure that top schools face. How many times have I read about how Lady crumbled under the pressure or how Troy Smith pulled out a big win (Michigan was a huge game despite their later undoing).

Bottom line is, both players and advertisers still care about the Heisman. When LSU has a legit candidate this year, or the next, or the next, I believe the promo machine will crank up quite nicely.

I honestly could not care less about a Heisman for one player if we can win a National Championship for the entire team/fan base. I don't like individual awards. :thumb:

The Heisman, for example, affects the team of the recipient. Breaks continuity of the "Team" thingy in my opinion and is a huge distraction not only to the team but also the recipient who is bombarded with PC after PC and has to be a drain on them (And I'm thinking of this as being in the context of their team preparing for the NC game).

    ^^^

    He has a point...

White won it and lost in the NC game
Bush won it and lost in the NC game
Smith won it and lost in the NC game

I didn't think of it that way.

McFadden or Slaton are almost guaranteed to deservedly win it. Personally, I can't wait to watch those guys this year.
